AnonD-291, 10 Feb 2011"all the free apps are useless" hahaha, thats a good joke. there are so many ... moreSee this is when you are wrong. Angry Birds is a game, as for the rest are USELESS to most people. Well to me anyways.
I'm saying they are free for a reason, cause they are either useless or free on other platforms like Symbian.

Anonymous, 10 Feb 2011really surprised you use Android but don't have apps like Facebook...which is free. Various... moreI use facebook Mobile as it is a lot faster and more convenient.(free here in Australia)

As for the apps you just mentioned, this is when my E71/N8 come in handy where i don't need any of those apps which comes pre-installed.

HTC Magic is rooted and now a lil messed up, stuck on Android 1.6 so the live wallpapers that eat your battery like a fat kid aren't a necessity.

          hahaha, thats a good joke.
there are so many "useful" "quality" apps that are free in android. you can start with google goggles, sky map, foursquare, angry birds, layar, job centre, tons of file managers task managers, ..............and u can go on and on.

All OS-s has own advantages and disadvantages. If nokia fixes their bugs and develop more "cool" apps they will be in high-end range. Of course THE new OS is needed or Symbian can improved. Personally i dont like IOS. Ye sure it's fast, i agree. But on the Symbian i can transfer anything freely...

              www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdsx9uxyhxo

Nokia will stick with MeeGo & not adapt poor OS's like WP7 or Adroid.

guys its not about single phone N8/apple,
I hope u understand the consequences, Nokia's most of revenues has always been from low end segment, now that trends has changed from all the directions, which include, smart phone segment getting strong/tough competition, and many others entering the mobile market providing low end phones at cheap prices , strategic moves are always important to keep it stable ..! My vote to the CEO's decision to change the strategy.
                Good luck!

I think there is sometheing fishy about this Memo. I really find it pretty hard to believe that this would have been written by a Nokia CEO. But we will see tomorrow what Elop has to say.

As per the present market position of Nokia definitely is losing the game. Every quarter just going down.
My personal survey states that Nokia and symbian combination is very good when comes to functionality and security as compared to other brands but obviously in the field of innovation and development Google is becoming the emperor.

Only leadership will not let the Nokia win but the innovative strategies and very new brain will only make a difference.

Creating new platform which endless variations and with more security like blackberry will make a big difference for Nokia.

Focusing corporates like blackberry may bring Nokia back to the same position.

There nothing wrong in Having and Supporting your own OS. Apple has Apple OS and RIM has BlackBerry OS, and they are really successful. Samsung has Bada OS. Only one company lacking a Propriatary OS (other than a Java OS) is SE (whose SYMBIAN UIQ was killed off by Symbian 6).

Nokia should keep the Symbian for their mid and low range mobile devices with a "Flatter" and more user friendly UI (like the ones of SPB).

Nokia can also use the OS or atleast the UI of the ELSE first Phone - Intuatiation.

Obviously Nokia will stick with Symbian & Meego, with Qt framework they have all the power.

They just need 2 work faster & release their phones close 2 announcement.

I wish if Nokia focused on making the high-end smartphone expensive and much higher priced, it'll succeed if it was business-only smartphone not a teenager and kids doll used by people who always complain, they want this they want that they want effects and transitions they want cartoonish icons!!

it would make profits raining from the companies and businessmen for a good real professional business smartphone.

E7 served for that purpose while it got keyboard and not-a-bad-quality video conferencing (huge plus for us) but still cheap in price which translates to a lack-ness of important business features.

The Eco and Plateform that is burning is the Symbian and MeeGo where Nokia Stands alone. Others like SE, Motorola and Samsung have already bailed as it is a very hard to maintain OS.

Mission: Nokia will be tying up with Android and Microsoft(for Gaming XBox Phones) to get it with the game. Its better late than Never.

Vision: Nokia should tie in with SPB Mobile Shell to use the UI as the Default for their Symbian Phones now to get some FUN Factor in the "boring" OS.

Nokia has the best (Durable) hardware and after sales service. Combine it with Android and Xbox and Nokia will rise again from the ashes.
