LG is GOLD, 10 Feb 2017SAMSUNG is the most GREEDIEST company ever. even APPLE donn't do like that and people say APP... moreDude stop complain, Samsung do that because they can, if Apple can they will too. I will do it too if I can, buy everything than other will use old one lol. Thats business!
What i think will happen is that lg will put out a regular g6 earlier with 821. And when they finally get their hands on some 835 chips, they will release another 'Pro' or 'S' variant of the phone like the oneplus 3t was released after oneplus 3. This is plausible because lg has already trademarked many g6xxx names in the recent past.
This strategy would ensure that the g6 doesn't become obsolete once other 835 phones arrive and also that they capitalize on the void in the market during the 6 weeks before release of s8.
Okay so maybe I'm one of those "average consumers who won't know the difference" between 821 or 835 but I seriously don't understand all the complaining? Have any of those complaining about 821 used a Pixel phone? I used my buddys phone for a day and it killed my G5 on terms of speed and smoothness... (Didnt care for the 1/2 glass back but still unique feel and look) If the 821 G6 is anything like 821 Pixel smooth then why complain? And if its much cheaper than s8 then yay! Just hoping for big (swappable!) battery and no screen light bleed for G6! And i get this feeling they managed to cram a 5.7 inch screen in the same size body as G5 judging by all the pics online which should be amaaaaazing! But no light bleed please! And no exploding battery-- wait that wasn't LG... ;P
F.H.-15, 10 Feb 2017I think LG should make the price of G-6 around 500$, At first may be,they will earn a little,b... moreI agree. This would be a brilliant move by LG. Look at AXon 7, OnePlus and others. I don't buy apple or Samsung because don't feel a phone should cost the same as a high end laptop. At $800 ...get outta here...people crazy to pay that much...now we have Huawei in the USA!!
CWWOIL TNAYRB, 11 Feb 2017Its not hoarding, just undersupply of the chip or lg want to rush g6 before s8 release in fact... moreYea agree with you mate. People always complain of Samsung rushing their products to the market and when another company (LG) clearly tries to rush their own products to the market, all these losers make Samsung the scapegoat again.
10nm is new tech, no surprises if there's chip shortages or low yields
Lol @ LG. G6 DOA.
Lol @ all the people dissing Samsung - this is just how business works. If LG wanted those chips badly enough, I'm sure Qualcomm won't mind if they outbid Samsung on their prices
So if it's LG, they can get away with selling last year's specs at what I'm pretty sure will be 650-700€ ? Wow.
F.H.-15, 10 Feb 2017I think LG should make the price of G-6 around 500$, At first may be,they will earn a little,b... moreIf they sell the phone for $500, they will be losing money. All that marketing, R&D, and advertisements all would give the G6 a base price of around $600, which they will not earn nor lose any cash. So $700 is the way to go.
Its not hoarding, just undersupply of the chip or lg want to rush g6 before s8 release in fact the chip isnt ready now yet.
tonymancs, 10 Feb 2017Taiwanese have 10nm tech too but their clients are Mediatek and Apple. Ok, so Samsung has righ... moreThey will have 10nm Exynos chip too.TMSC only will have the mass production capability in Q3 2017.
Well my strong suspicion is that they disposed of all the faulty batteries from Note 7 without any additional cost with this fire.Samsung might even have planned the fire.
Disposing off Li ion batteries are very expensive.
Tom, 10 Feb 2017That's abuse of vertical integration. Samsung itself claimed several times, in lawsuits, that ... moreOkay, i couldn't quite understand completely what you said but i get the idea. So what do you think should have happened instead?
Samsung has its flagship coming up and they need cutting edge tech for it and to top of it, they worked with qualcomm to make its chipset. So it's obvious that they would get special treatment and get new chipset earlier than competition. I don't see anything wrong with that. I'll admit that i'm not knowledgeable in this specific matter so please tell me what should have been happened instead.
I will buy the G6 just not to give my money to samsung...where is the iris scanner LG?hope america gets the quad dac!
people hating on Samsung but they're the ones manufacturing the 10nm processing chips for Qualcomm. It's a fair business deal between the two, get over it.
People should informed that S821 isnt any worse than SD835. That's a must. That although 14nm chip which is 10 months old, still holds a candle to any other chip out there. That's a good marketing.
Secondly...They should have shipped units around the world at the same time as in Korea...That would probably kill the competition.
Thrid...due to older chip, price should not be more than Samsung or any other flagship having Sd835.
All listed points mean death to this years Samsung flagship units.
Some of these comments leave me dumbfounded, "they should have waited"??? If LG would have chose that timeframe for their release of the G6, you'll have people whining up the wazzoo saying stuff like "this is why LG doesn't garner sales, they always are late"??? or this stupid comment "DOA"???
This is a no win situation for LG, whether they released the G6 in May or June, they will still get overshadowed by Samsung's sales, because the Brand Loyalty is too dang high, this is Samsung The Glutton's fault, they (Samsung) knew exactly what they was doing to partner with Qualcomm, this was intentional to create a monopoly within the Mobile industry, all about being first, whether they admit that or not.
Samsung can eat Dung.
The Snapdragon 835 is not even in consumers hands, heck the Snapdragon 821 that is inside the LG G6 is not in consumers hands, how in the world do we make an early judgement on a unreleased product? How do we know it'll be a fail if it don't have the so-called latest and greatest SOC? how do we know the SD835 will be a beast in real life? Is it because the spec sheet told us? are some of us from the future who had foreseen the failure the LG G6 will have due to using a 5-Month old chipset?
This is the type of mindset that needs to die within the Mobile Technology Space, every single time a manufacturer releases a new processor after 2 months or so of their predecessor being commercially available in devices, it is quickly knocked down as either DOA or FAIL if a OEM decides to use that chip.
Granted, there is nothing wrong with wanting the latest and greatest in Technology, the problem lies with some people quickly knocking down a product that has a very capable chip (if the OEM optimize their software to work friendly with the SOC) before it is even in that person's hand.
It's not like LG had a say in the matter either with what choice of chipsets to use, Samsung The Glutton hoarded all the initial chips for their Flagships.
All in All, Optimization is what needs to be looked at, not the numbers of a thing, withholding judgement on this matter would be a sound choice for us to make.
