Anonymous, 13 Feb 2017No need bigger battery. Chipsets these day are more efficient. Back then processor were as thi... moreWhy do we want more RAM? Simple. First it has been demonstrated on several occasions that more RAM makes the phone concerned faster and generally more responsive. Second. It has now got to the point that many manufacturers, including Samsung themselves offer mid range phones with more RAM than Samsung's own flagships. When buying a top end phone that is more expensive than anything else currently available, pretty much, I expect the phone to at least have better spec's than phones that cost substantially less. I don't think that is an unreasonable expectation for a phone that's costs near to 900 Euros. Especially when it then transpires such devices will be available in other regions. That just adds insult to injury.

On the issue of battery life. I know I'm not alone in thinking a little bit of more thickness is beneficial to a thinner one with too shorter battery life. That comes down to substance over style. Substance is far more important to me. I don't get the luxury of 8phone

Hey, now we'll have 40% more junk laying around at launch! Can't wait to see how much shorter battery health will be on these phones, and not to mention how much more it will be overrated when compared to the S7. I wonder how long it will take to get Android Oreo

Back then processor were as thick as 28nm. Now, the latest one will be as thin as 10nm. It consume less battery and less heating. Specs war is stupid. i don't know why people are asking for more ram..and then keep complaining about battery life..and for those people who complain about the battery size..its a newer chipset..like the tock for intel..less power consumption and hopefully less heat too..i have never snapped in a spare battery for a phone..you do it for handheld cams..and there are always charger cases and battery packs, some of which have quickcharge too..i'd rather have a smaller battery than a large exploding one

Indeed this goal is achievable but only when the phone is very safe like the S7 and S7 edge. And again the price should not go beyond $850 for the S7 and not above $1000 for the S7 Plus. Control the price for us please.

s5: 3GB of RAM, 8 core big little processor at 28nm
What we got: big phone due to bezels, 2GB of RAM, quad core Qualcomm

s6: 4GB of ram, exynos 7420, removable battery, SD
What we got: still not very slim bezels, 3GB of RAM , sealed battery, no SD

s7: 6GB of ram, exynos 8890, removable battery , SD
what we got: 4GB of ram, exynos in some places, sealed battery.

S8: 8GB of RAM, exynos cpu, removable battery
what we get: 4GB of ram, Qualcomm cpu, small sealed battery.

Samsung you betrayed your roots. Now Chinese phones get spec wins and you lose sales. No wonder...

The S8 coming with only 4GB, assuming it is true, of RAM is hardly top spec. any more. We have both 6 and 8GB phones coming out now. Samsung need to stop playing catch up or they will get left behind.

It's because in the S3 and S4 era, Samsung had ZERO or less competition in the Android world. If you want a good Android smartphone, then Samsung is the way to go.

But now, we see the rise of Chinese OEMs such as Huawei, Oppo, Xiomi, OnePlus. These Chinese phones that were once considered cheap and unreliable had now up their game and they produced good smartphones.

The only way sales will decline is if Samsung give Asian markets a 6 or 8 gig ram version. Im in the UK and was a Note 7 purchaser but not receiver and so I am looking at S8 for some sort of get me by till Note8.

Samsung for some reason keeps giving Asian markets preferential treatment and tries to tell the rest of the world especially Europeans we only need 4gig of ram. if they do this with the S8 I won't be buying it.

Guess which Samsung Galaxy phone sold the best.

Oh yeah it was the S4 with 80 mill, almost as much as s6 and s7 combined.

It was also the last S phone with top specs. Afterwards the descend started. S5 had giant bezels and only 2GB of ram, s6 was a disaster (no SD, small sealed battery), S7 was better but still sealed and relatively big.

Good thing that Samsung continues not caring what the customers actually need and keep saddling us with second rate specs (small sealed batery ONCE again like the terrible S6, low ram, no exynos variant). I mean Samsung keep on continuing your road to mediocrity ...

I very much doubt you'll get the sales you'd think you'll get. Once the first reports of low autonomy get out (which they inevitably will) expect your sales.

Shaun Moroz, 13 Feb 20175.8" and 6.2'' screens? lol I see sales declining...5.8 and 6.2 for the screen itself, but it has chopped bezels, so it may fit like a s7 edge for the 6.2, and for the 5.8 maybe a 5.5 in?
