[deleted post]oh man,so much trolls in nokia section as always..thats why the comments always cross more 100 comments..
I think that combination of Nokia and WM7 will liven up the already crammed smart phone segment with great hardware (nokia) and a new and exciting software (WM7). Although WM7 is not up to the standard that android and iOS are it is still a platform in its infancy and can only continue to learn and innovate. In response to all those that are baiting and hating please keep it constructive. Remember that all OS's have their teething problems. With chipsets becoming more advanced and as a result current chipsets becoming cheaper the new midrange will be capable of running 1gb chips to meet the minimum requirements of WM7.
This is going to piss alot of other wp7 manufacturers off because they cant customize wp7 but Nokia can. This may make manufacturers drop from CraP7 which I'd be very happy because they may either get lost in the flood of Android phones or provide Android with some real competition and jump on Meego. COME ON COMPANIES! JUMP ON THE MEEGO BANDWAGON!
oh! God , Nokia is at last will produce a phone rather than symbian platform
[deleted post]What? Nokia is the future? Is that why they're phasing out their own OS and adopted wm7 that's not doing well either? Hahahahaha. You're funny.
AnonD-1024, 17 Feb 2011You are trollin buddy...he did the right thing i think cause every vendor is using android so ... moreMicrosoft is no longer the biggest tech company. Stop living 2 years ago, lol. Nokia has already been toppled by android in the smartphone category. Pretty soon, the mid category. And China is rapidly dominating the low end, which leaves nokia no place, hahahahahaha.
AnonD-252, 18 Feb 2011Nokia does not have "fantastic hardware quality", the camera on N8 is still, but not... moreNokia Hardware, and design is the best in the industry, and there are no questions about it. The processor may be low, RAM may be low, yet nokia is the only company that makes devices which are lasts for decades not for mere months. Aluminium makes device heavy, ah common, go and do a search about the density of anoidized aluminium and cheap plastic that are used in samsung devices and do a comparison of weights of the respective devices on this site. Again just go and do a check about the built quality of nokia devices to the similar devices from other companies and decide on your own. Have you ever checked for a tear down of devices in ifixit. I recommend you to check the Nokia N8 teardown and iphone 4 teardown to see for your self. You will understand what nokia are masters at.
I think we need a lot more maturity to comment on the decision elop made, to go with windows phone. As a nokia N8 user and a long term nokia symbian user I too have some fear of the partnership. But it doesn't seems that all negative as we nokia fans say, As a former WinMo user I know what microsoft are capable of, and with the time for digestion of the announcement the things are seems more promising for me. I would be one of the early adopters of Nokia windows phone I believe. 'convergence without compromise' (courtesy rita mobile R'nR') seems more promising to me.
Hope doing Good, nice to hear that you have introduced Window 7 Mobile, which would replace the Symbian OS soon. Is it possible to change my NOKIA N8 Symbian OS window to Windows 7 mobile OS? or even use both. ASAP
Nokia should have never done it this way. It's causing total confusion and misunderstanding on both sides.
Good luck to all...by time the iphone5 is out this summer in USA with AT&T, I'll be ready to give up my n8.
Does this new development pose a significant threat to Google Android's growth
Waxx, 18 Feb 2011not one company makes a perfect phone or device they all have problems of some sort. even the ... moreThe first Nokia with WP7 will obly come next year. so by then even the slow pogrammers on the MeeGo will have been able to produce an os and "ecosystem" that then would be far better than Microsoft WP7 ever can hope of becoming, so the fact is that Nokia have abandoned MeeGo in favor for the far worse WP7
bummy, 18 Feb 2011I agree that Nokia hasn't done very well in the past few years (since n95...) But Nokia's part... moreNokia does not have "fantastic hardware quality", the camera on N8 is still, but not for long, a little bit better than those used on other phones, but the rest of Nokias hardware is sadly outdated, using aluminium makes the phone heavy but even HTC... are somtimes using aluminium in their phones. Nokias outdated hardware and Microsofts WP7, that is still years behond Android, will be a catastrophic combination that will "end" Nokias existens as a smartphone manufacturer. And the first WP7 Nokia will come early 2012 or late 2011 so all Nokia-fans will by then already have changed for an Android or an IPhone
Samsung and HTC and LG are stupid if they continue using WP7 if they do not get the same rights to make changes to the way WP7 looks...
Nokia and Microsoft said that Ovi Maps and Ovi Store will be integrated in the WP7 "ecosystem", will Nokia give acces to Samsung... and the other users of WP7 to Nokias Ovi Maps or will they only be able to use a restricted version of WP7 without access to its full "ecosystem"?
Android is free, but I guess Nokia do not trust their Nokia programmers to be able to make individualisations of Android for Nokia, because they have showed that they completely messed up Symbian and totally failed on MeeGo and Maemo?
I am happy with Nokia N8, i love how good photos i can make it with my phone, so i never going to buy any Nokia WM7 smart phone. I was always Microsoft enemy, i not happy with VISTA and other Windows software. And how u can imagine all this crapp i gonna to carry in my pocket!? NO!
Windows no have future! Look in stores, just few peoples (women, girls, children) sometimes looking some phones and them not important what kind OS instaled just like pink colour or some girly look.
Future MeeGo, Android or even iOS (if they lift all restrictions).
bummy, 18 Feb 2011I agree that Nokia hasn't done very well in the past few years (since n95...) But Nokia's part... moreIt will be an exciting year indeed! Nokia may not have a WP7 device out this year while Android will keep on dominating the smartphone world. Nokia will be like sitting ducks for the most part this year while Android increases its marketshare even more.
Megalord, 18 Feb 2011Unfortunately, Nokia tells you that WP7 is the future. They have done so badly themselves that... moreI agree that Nokia hasn't done very well in the past few years (since n95...) But Nokia's partner ship with Microsoft is NOT a sign of weakness. They've finally submitted to more elaborate OS's; that combined with their fantastic hardware quality, and existing fanbase is going to be a combination very hard to beat. 2011-2012 is going to be very exciting for the mobile industry!
[deleted post]You have to see a phone at a phone shop before you will buy it? Then kiss goodbye to online purchases and continue to live in yesteryear.
For your information, the Nexus One is everywhere. Do you know how many developer phones are out there?
