does anybody find dedicated number keys can greatly boost the typing speed. most of time, messages are composed by characters and numbers, especially when you want to tell somebody your contact details. really annoying you have to switch input mode all the time. when looking at mobiles with physical keyboard, so surprised a lot of space wasted for no good reasons. and even virtual keyboards separate numbers and characters. WHY?

Had a BB 9000 until recently - great phone. Now have a 9700 - also good phone but keypad on small side for my big thumbs.
This will be my next phone, providing key pad is same or larger than 9000. plus touch (which i'm not really a fan of) for non-phone and typing interface. looks like the full business deal!!

I thought they would never come out with a phone that truly replaces the Bold 9000. Its about time. Good job......

This is hardly RIM releasing what they already had. There are many customers who liked the size of the Bold 9000 (and haven't had a refresh since) and want a touch screen (and haven't had an option since). This is for them. I might even move up to this from my Torch 9800. I miss my left-side convenience key. Also, the Torch series just doesn't have the ultra-premium feel of a Bold.

great, a mobile phone with carbon fibre, why? faster in the corners and highter top speed? no, didnt think so. POINTLESS!!! and if the touchscreen is anything of the style of the torch then this is one phone i will avoid at all costs

Bold 9000 was the best phone i have had, so the size and shape is a welcome return for me. People whp are slating RIM are obviously just the same old sheep who have fallen onto the iPhone bandwagon. How very boring of you all! How can you say a phone is bad without seeing it for real!?

I thought the original bold 9000 looked ugly and this looks exactly like it with a carbon back. Pointless - they could have at least got rid of the stainless steal and make it black. Rubbish RIM.

There's absolutely no way that battery door design will be anything near the final product. It's hideous. Throw some chrome on there RIM!
