FINALLY! The only thing that was missing on the G series: removable batteries. The G5 is getting seriously interesting!
The major manufacturers are going to find their phone sales getting crushed if they don't drastically downsize the bezels. The next version of the Xiaomi Mix will be coming out and looks to be another winner. Should it be distributed internationally it's going to take a good chunk of sales from other manufacturers.
The days of phones with big bezels are limited and I expect in a couple years it won't only be the flagships which have almost no bezels.
Then there is the last thing to consider, how it will fair in a test/review. Is yet to be seen. Maybe it will rock, or sink like a rock.
Wii moto g5 support 5g network
Jenny, 22 Feb 2017So now it's a 5.5 inch screen? If that's true it's a step in the right direction... if there i... moreDude, I assure you there will be a 4 gig/RAM version
Ugh, the entry G phone looks skippable this year. Big bezels, slower processor than last year's. I'd take a plastic body over a weaker chipset any day. And what the heck is with those bezels? Are you Moto, or Sony? Whatever, at least the G5 Plus is an upgrade from the G4 Plus
Yeah, it is kinda ugly, that color, bleh! But this seems to be the only budget-mobile, with plain android and under 5.5" that has a removable battery. (Which isn't tiny like 2200 mAh). Without removable, this is def a device I'll pass on.
Snapdragon 617 vs 430 617 beats it in benchmark
430 is trash for this upgrade
joking right? I had the first moto g in 2015 and the screen shattered during the first month.
uglyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Looks great for a phone with removable battery!
Why would you buy the G5 Plus when there is a Moto Z Play? 5,5" Full HD Amoled, Snapdragon 625, 3GB RAM and almost the same looks...
battery on Moto g5 plus should have been atleast 4000 mah... :-(
Looks like shit huge bezels n awkward vry un premium liok
ithehappy, 22 Feb 2017It's better to have huge bezel if the build quality is robust, can survive drops, rather than ... moreTotally agree. Those bezels help the Moto G5 survive more drops than other similar priced phones. I'm an unofficial Moto salesman and I haven't seen a Moto G with a broken screen yet (we sold hundreds of them in a small city).
Missed a trick not having a home and fp sensor. The bezels are too big for the screen size. The screen size of the G5 is nice but the height of the phone is still too big.
Lack of progress on specs makes me think this is the reason for the cheaper prices.
Sd 430 and 2 gb ram means this is level with upcoming Nokia 5/6
Was hoping the G5 plus would be 5.2 too.
So now it's a 5.5 inch screen? If that's true it's a step in the right direction... if there is a 3gb ram version it will be a much better buy.
AnonD-632807, 22 Feb 2017Screen to body ratios 2012 Motorola droid razor maxx 68% 2013 moto x 70.4 % 2014 moto x 7... moreBut only 2012 and 2017 devices have removable battery. It's a pretty nifty feature that's a rarity these days
I wouldn't call those bezels massive. As long as sides are slim, everything is fine
It looks like a modern Galaxy Gio. And that is about as far from a compliment as it gets.
