I really wanted to buy a Moto Z last year but is not available in my country and the import prices plus the mods made it stupidly expensive.

Wondering if lack of 4K on the camera mod has to do with transfer rate limitations on those pins, or it was just another nonsensical design choice of that overpriced mod.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a better camera mod. Hassleblad TruZoom was just underwhelming. They should partner with Sony to get the RX100 V sensor on the next mod :)

English language is sometimes weird...referring to consumer goods as an investment...in Italian the word investment is only used for a true investment like a property , gold, or a good business venture...but never for consumer goods like mobile phones.

My priorities:
1 Battery life
2 Solid connections for phone, Bluetooth and WiFi
3 Quality camera good in low light
4) Great screen
Last thing I want... To have to carry additional items other than my phone.
I have the Z Force w/case but I'm not a mod customer. It's seems nonsensical to remove the case and add a battery or camera.

But they still make different looking phones that are compatible with the same mods. Just look at the Z play and the Z. But IMO, there is room for improvement for the screen/body ratio. If they change that, they will have to make different size mods. Personally, I would doubt that the first generation mod will fit anything they make in 3 years. OEM's have no problem making new accessories that are not backward compatible. In their eyes, no one should be using a phone more then 2 years. After that, they assume you will buy the newer device. The entire industry is based on built in obsolescence.

The mods are a good idea but there is one huge flaw. You cannot use a case when using the mod. My Moto Play Z is very fragile. Glass back and the displays they use are very thin. The glass will break very easily with small drops. plus my Z play is extremely slippery. When I first got it I did not put my sim into it until I got my tempered glass and case from Amazon. Plus many of the mods do not fit well including the fake wood one that came with the phone. It falls off very easily and came warped out of the box. Pretty useless. Many of the incipio battery mods are also not fitting well. The JBL speaker mod has the best fit and has a very strong magnet. But it adds allot of bulk and if you drop the phone, its toast.
So if Lenovo wants to make a phone that uses mods with no ability to put it into a case then they need to make the phone more rugged. Or at least offer the Z force outside of the Red monster (verizon) I refuse to do business with them. So I bought the Z play and use a case with zero interests in every purchasing a mod.
I ended up buying a JBL clip 2 that makes more sense then the speaker mod. Its very portable, sounds good and long battery life. And my phone is still protected. Really sick and tired of the rugged phones being exclusives for the two crappiest carriers on the planet. Force with big Red and S7 active with ATT which is probably worse then Big Red.

Much better battery life and still keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack. IMO, its a better phone for less money. I bought one and love it. And the last I heard its the battery champ phone in the entire planet rated number one.

I know that RAM is part of SoC, but L was wondering... Would it be possible to add more RAM or second (more powerfull) DAC/GPU into the mix using moto mods? Modular DAC was already succesfully done by LG so at least that shouldn't be a problem...
