I won't get it anyway. That facial recognition feature is intetesting, but I think other devices will do the job just fine. As I said previously, the S7/Edge is still good to go at least until the S9.
I think it will be a tiered system: Pick up your phone and it attempts an Iris scan. If it works, it unlocks. If not, it refers to the facial recognition scan and then unlocks if the Iris scan was a partial match for that face. If not, or it's unsure, it asks you to use the fingerprint scanner.
AnonD-308243, 09 Mar 2017for ur house google has u covered already. project tango mate scans ur living room nicely too ... moreI dont see project tango catching up. Most of the newly released phone dont have this feature.
Lol Honestly this isn't something you. My Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman has this feature. It's a 2011 phone.
From my point of view, samsung is creating a safe box.
Like seriously, so many security measure in a phone.
Anonymous, 09 Mar 2017Cool. Next, I want the screen to scan my entire hand. Scan my body. Scan my house. Keep on add... morefor ur house google has u covered already. project tango mate scans ur living room nicely too and always remembers ur telly, fridge and other furniture location in your living space. :) awesome stuff.
After facial, next would be voice recognition in Samsung Galaxy S9.
AnonD-331984, 09 Mar 2017Oh please... My old xperia e3 and m2 has facial recognition. Was that suppose to be a hype on ... moreWhy so narrow minded? If this rumor is true, Samsung would probably use this technology for online-banking, secure folder, Samsung Pay, and whatnot. Surely this technology won't go to waste for 'just' unlocking your phone.
This is my suggest: Smarter unlocker that read your DNA instead older un-locker!
Mechanism: this un-locker does unlock your phone only with your hand or your blood! (Spit! Why not!?) Just for Smartphone owner :)
Finger print scanner, iris scanner and now face recognition?! Ftf do we need all of these? So they(governments) can track us faster and easier??
AnonD-331984, 09 Mar 2017Oh please... My old xperia e3 and m2 has facial recognition. Was that suppose to be a hype on ... moreYeah, sure. But this time it WORKS!
Unbelievable Samsung! Even Apple plans to copy this feature in thier next phone.
I really hope it will also work in a 45 degree setup (so you don't have to be in front of the phone). That could eliminate the problem of FPS getting on the back. This way you could open the phone when it lies on the desk, without picking it up.
But of course it won't work like this :(((.
FaceGle, 09 Mar 2017but in reality, no one will use the iris scanner, or maybe few of people. Nonsense. F*ck. And... moreLOL. That's a good joke bro (not). That's exactly what people said when Apple introduce the finger print scanner in the iPhone 5s. People like you said that the fingerprint scanner is a gimmick. Now FPS is a must for a smartphone. It will be the same thing with the iris scanner and facial recognition.
Nice Samsung. The Galaxy S8 gonna be one of the best smartphone in 2017.
Apple will prolly copy but with a different name, and suddenly it no longer is a "gimmick" and iFans be like "OMG Apple is innovative!! This is so useful!!!"
AnonD-507364, 09 Mar 2017When is Samsung going to bankrupt? Keeps on introducing gimmicks upon gimmicks non-stop. Idi... moreThe strange thing is a lot of those gimmick are integrated into latest android version as a native feature. It is no lousier than slide to unlocked.
Is this really something new? Where is your innovation Samsung! Lol?
