But if you look a little deeper into the comparison, you'll know that for a few extra dollars you're getting much higher value. You sacrifice battery life, though, this can't be avoided. But if you want one of the best cameras around, you won't buy A5 2017. At least I didn't. Price was nearly the same so I took S7.
The sky high prices for S8 couple is not only unjustified but the prices of it's competitor such as Pixel and iPhone are also unjustified. The trend to increase the prices for the premium models can be seen from last few years but this clears the market for low end smartphones to have better specifications than their predecessors for the same price.
This year, with the introduction of 2017 A series, Samsung is making a clear distinction between New flagship devices and other products.
2017 A series are very very close to last years flagships, they even have way more amazing battery life.
But the "design" is almost the same as other devices, as Samsung emphasizes on their "this is/was a smartphone" ad.
And new technologies, make it possible, to have visible distinctive feature between flagships and other products (like the first time S6 edge came out, perhaps not a very practical feature, but definitely showed it is in a different league than others.)
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2017apple and google at least develop their OS. Samsung gets the OS ready from google. google and... morebut the extra R&D that samsung spends to develop its iris recognition software and cameras UFS chips, its super amoled Quad HD screen, its curved screen, the new AKG harman kardon earphones and deal for audio costing a cool $8 BILLION, and a plethora of other tech inside its devices means the cost is going to be higher, its no surprise that samsung spent nearly $14 BILLION on it last year, Apple by comparison spent ONLY $2.6 BILLION because most of the components are already pre made and researched or severel generation old I.E the shell since the iphone 6, or the 4.7" not full HD displays i do think you have a point about the note 7, they are perhaps trying to fill the void left by the several billion lost revenue but overall out of the 2 companies i would pay this for the samsung over the apple, but either way the price is still excessive for either of them :-/
You buy S8 for around 1000 euro sure you will make Samsung daring enough to price the next S series even more expensive simple mathematics,so Samsung says it doesn't matter how much we ask for our products people will rush to buy it, so the more expensive the better it will be for them, so LET'S ABANDON THE S8 SO WE CUSTOMERS CAN CHOOSE THE PRICE RANGE, NO DICTATORSHIP FROM MANUFACTURERS
PLAYER SLAYER, 26 Mar 2017I know that the darn thing doesn't cost anywhere near $900 to build, so why should it cost tha... morei agree, the S7Edge had a bill of materials at around $250, i expect this thing to come in around $300 but even still when it retails for the first 6 weeks at nearly 1000euros seems excessive, mind you the iphone 7+ had a bill of materials at $220 and has way less top notch components in it, this is the market now i guess
in South Africa, currently, the Galaxy S7 costs R13000 which is proximately €966.
too pricey. If I need a phone immediately, I'd get the S7 Edge with little difference except that screen
coolstan , 26 Mar 2017No. I wouldn't even touch it with a 10ft pole even if it is sold for $500. Total ripoff! Way b... moreWhich are the best brands for you than Samsung? Sony, Nokia, HTC, LG, Motorolla, Huawei or other chinese brands like One Plus? You are wrong because there is no other brand better in hardware or even in software than Samsung. If you want the best Android phone in terms of hardware, the best is Samsung. In terms of software i already don't know, but they are some of the bests.
and people were crying that P10 and G6 were overpriced...so the S8 costing this much is expected
No phone deserves that price range. OK?? The maximum price of a phone should be 500€
Despite what people are saying now they'd still buy Samsung's products without much doubt. A similar and even more dedicated behaviour can be seen in Apple's fans. Nowadays everyone overprices their phones, why Samsung would be an exception?
It would be funny if the OnePlus 3T ended up being faster than the S8 in real life usage. It already beat the G6 by quite a margin.
