Oh, have a cry folks. Australia gets shafted for technology prices all the time so this is more or less what I would expect from SE for this handset.
Also, the "early-adopter tax" is present all around the world so if you can possibly hold back on getting one for *two whole weeks* (I know it's tough, but c'mon it's just a handset) prices will inevitably plummet.

not 2.3 but 2.4
LG optimus 2x, Samsung GS II, and many other will upgrade to 2.3.
You will pay for dual core processors, but in reality you will use single core until the next time you will upgrade to a new phone.

kiran, 15 Mar 2011Its again SE.. Remember x10.. the support they have stopped now. You will never get ... morePoint taken. I was one of the earliest adopters of the X10 and I learned my lesson the hard way. I'm now using a rooted SGS and at least Samsung is getting Gingerbread ready for the SGS while SE seems to have dropped the X10 like a hot potato.

Besides the fact that Sony Ericsson devices usually fall in price quickly, I doubt we'll see the Xperia Play costing that much - or not for long.
It's not much more than any other Xperia device, from the X10 to the arc - and they've put the gamepad instead of a QWERTY keyboard. So, unless they're bad at buying components, this phone doesn't cost much to build.
So, while you can expect people to cash in at the start, within days/weeks it will be cheaper. Early adopters probably won't care, but let's not assume this is Sony Ericsson trying to rip people off.

You get a tegra 2 phone for the same money and im shute there will be better and nicer games available in dual core then on this single core (totaly last year hardware). Even if I was in games on andrtoid i wouldnt buy this phone. As usual at SE since X2 - to little to be gotten for to much of a price.

Hello i had several SE on my hands since k800,x1/x10/x8 and Satio,c905 etc but got to say with 649 euro its way to expensive if i am to pay 650 for a phone its defenetly gonna not gonna be a on this piece of junk,guys if u have 650euro to waste on a phone trust me either get the nice iPhone 4 or save the money till iPhone 5 comes out or get a nice android....I have atm an iPhone 3gs and games are way above most android and 2x better then symbian and other op sistem
P.S:Even if I own an Iphone atm i am not a stupid apple crazy fane,anyways do not DO NOT buy this stupid creap for 650euro its not worth it more then 300-350euro def
