Pity they can't do the same for My E9+
I already have an HTC 10 now, but keeping their promise to update E9+ might have been nice.
The SD801 isn't capable of meeting Google CTS or hardware encryption. I see problems using it.
what the fudge, HTC should roll this out globally, as they obviously made the update.
Just for t mobile ....i m using Verizon And When Can i get the update ???

Thanks for the update and clarification. I am not upset with Samsung after all (smile).
It kind of sucks that the S5 was released a month after the M8 and the S5 won't be getting Nougat. It ends at Marshmallow for the S5. So it seems that HTC gives their customers at least three years of support while Samsung gives their customers two years of support. I'm really shocked to see the M8 get Nougat.
Samsung Alpha, Samsung's premium answer to Iphone at that time, launched 5 months later than M8 , did not even get Marshmellow. It got only Lolipop after 12 months. Only 12 month support !

AnonD-656372, 27 Mar 2017You know that it was a mistake, right? "Update [March 27, 2017]: We just received confirmat... moreYep, definitely not gonna happen. It's a given fact that SD801 devices will never be able to run the official Nougat OS, and there's literally no logical or technical way to bypass it, except when the OEM asks/pays Google to give the drivers of Nougat, or by using a custom ROM which is not guaranteed to work 100% perfect
AnonD-625776, 27 Mar 2017Thank you HTC for showing other manufacturers how to update devices, it's about time a company... moreEither Google generously gave the drivers to run Nougat on the M8 to HTC or HTC itself paid for Google to give them, given the fact that HTC still believes it's their last great phone they have ever made
Anonymous, 27 Mar 2017great support from htc.. what about other major brand like samsung, lg, sony? I think they alr... moreIt's weird that the HTC One M8 with SD801 received Nougat update. It's probably because HTC and Google have relationship with software department, and they (Google) probably gave the proper drivers to run Nougat on SD801 devices to the M8 only. Meanwhile, Sony Xperia Z3 also received the BETA version of Nougat, thing of which the M8 never reached. Even so, Sony supported their Z2 with 2 major OS upgrades and 5 version updates (4.2.2., 4.4.2, 5.0.2, 5.1, 6.0.1). I wonder in what OS the M7 has reached
