I have mine overclocked to 1ghz on 2.1 and it is way faster, but I have yet to get the release for 2.2 here in Canada, but some over at android forums have done this and it seems to work well.
For those running Milestone Froyo which experience slow & sluggish performance, I suggest to hard reset their phone, use App2SD to move those application to SD card instead of eating into phone memory & use task killer to kill unwanted application from time to time, this would speed up the phone.Hope this would help. :-)

i've updated it two days ago, and it's not bad... but i previuosly had the 2.2.2 ROM version that i downloaded from some website, and it was way better, the results on benchmark were twice better... so, i'm returning to that... you sholud try it...there are several available roms for milestone... ;)
Does it matter what region you get it from? I am at the Moto UK site and was wondering if the uk 2.2 would work here in Canada.
When I docked my Milestone into its docking station last night, I was this message saying there is an update available. I then continued updating my phone and when it finished, viola! i was served a froyo! It was the most pleasant surprise!
Until I started actually using my phone...unfortunately the phone started running verrryyyy slowwww and sluggish! the screen seems to sometimes hang till eternity.simply opening the phonebook (contacts) is a test of patience.it was very very annoying and frustrating. so many reboots later and still same performance. the phone also gets very hot. i should have just stuck it out with eclair. :-(
Read the article. Read all the comments. Dissapointed. Are they not ashamed of saying they are not shure if it works ok? I have been waiting, and will keep waiting.
Seems so much hassle is it ok if i go to the service centre and ask them to update the phone to froyo for me? Will they do it? I am in singapore btw.
Downloaded it on Friday and it is working a charm. Using it in India over a Vodafone network.

Hey everyone...i admit, i wasn't a big fan of motorola from the start, but this device changed my mind.
And for those of you that are so quick to say the update is horrible, i had the same initial reaction. However, i did some more searching online, and decided to start fresh with a factory reset and a formatting of the SD card...and I'M GLAD I DID!
froyo on the milestone is now meeting my expectations on how it's supposed to be...a very noticeable improvement! for those that are losing hope, give it a shot...but make sure you back up all your stuff first!
Anonymous, 17 Mar 2011Up Coming Droid 3 ; 4" qHD dual-core five-row qwerty keyboard save your m... morecan you confirm where did you get news for Milestone 3, I am using Milestone 1 and looking for an upgrade Moto Phone. Should I wait for Quad Core?
Yesterday I managed to upgrade to 2.2 in Singapore. The phone is now much faster but yes sometime some apps are getting hanged. 3G hotspot, faster browser, flash support, intalling apps in sd card are some of key +ves.
The installation process is very frustrating. After reading this news when I checked my phone for updates over the air, it told me that no new updates. Then when I connected my phone to pc, motorola updater didn't detect anything. After getting the links from one of the post here, I checked for Singapore link and that link also didn't work. So I download Malaysia link and installed on my pc. After that it detected the updates for Singapore and installed the 2.2 on my phone.
Finally all are well that's end well. One good things also that there is no loss of personal data or apps.
Hurry!!! Finally i have upgraded :-) & it is working very fast too... Thanks MOTO finally you have done it for Milestone customers...
Update was slightly frustrating using RSD lite. I had to rename the file to recovery.sbf to be recognised by RSD.
However, the phone is pretty fast now. Flash support is good! But from what I've seen, the Cyanogen Mod is much better than this version.
Moto, when are you gonna wake up??
Yawn.................................
I admit I'm a coward in terms of phone OS upgrade....would always wait for all the experts to confirm the upgraded version is ok to use, then I would go ahead.
I've been a proud owner of Motorola Droid - CDMA/Verizon Version of Milestone - for over a year now with 2.2 on it for as long as 6 month.
The biggest issue with Froyo on Droid is lack of memory. 256 MB is barely enough. I use task managers yo kill unneeded task several times a day. That is the most negative part of switching to Froyo on Droid.
I wont be upgrading then and i cant wait to be out of contract and get a new phone.
Never buying Motorola again
all reviews of Motorola on this site should list poor product support and phones full of bugs when doing reviews.
People stop attacking motorola, is a almost broken company, dont spect to see a lot of answers of them. THEY have the questions here, not the clients. Thanks Android / Google that the company is still alive. Today motorola dont have the money to pay months and months of programers checking and repairing the bugs that comes installing 2.2.
