However, their IP Certification is quite misleading because they didn't warn nor inform anyone that it's NOT saltwater proof/resistant (because of salt crystals).

It's IP68 certified and IP Certifications are only done using stream burs... moreNo this isnt a hoax, most phones with waterproofing will work under sea water, the problem usually is the salt that ruins the connectors and damages the delicate parts, i should know as i recently came back from sri lanka and asia for 3 months and during my trip i took my s7 edge into the seas to films some dolphins and turtles at a depth of around 6ft the phone worked perfectly and i used it several times during my trip, i forgot to wash the device with fresh water and the salt over time corroded the usb connector a bit, just enough to mess with the charging amd my port shorted out, samsung uk had my phone for analysis and reported micro spots of corroded salt crystals on the ports but couldnt conclude it was from the sea, so they repaired it under warranty, but YES u can use with caution although i wouldnt recommend extended periodss based on my experience

sony has made waterproof phones for years the z3 was unboxed underwater in 2014 thats three years ago haha
