Camera quality is almost same. Battery life will be almost same. Screen quality is almost same. I'm never going to use Bixby anyway. Colors etc etc are also mostly same admittedly which a all excellent on s7. Don't think sound will be significantly better. Except those bezels and a new processor, nothing is exciting. And the finger scanner as rumors gone true beside camera looks very ugly like cheap chinese phone, noting new in this phone.
pt020, 30 Mar 2017Sony has the best place for a fingerprint scanner,
Works fast too.
Only if you're right-handed...
More than half the times my Z5 won't or can't read my left middle finger because of poor reading/placement of the scanner
jesse.clark, 29 Mar 2017I'm sure you never used a galaxy S phone and just trying to manipulate people by mentioning S7... moreManipulate? Haha. Did I advise people to not buy the S8 and S8+?
I'm perhaps the heaviest user in this world. I use my phone all the time. Currently I've a 4000 mAh battery phone and I get close to 7 hours of SOT (watching 4K videos, heavy gaming and 4G data on all the time) but still I need to charge it at least twice a day. Design is subject to personal preferences, what you may like, I might not. To me, the S8 and S8+ are a big disappointment only because of the design. I have never liked on screen buttons. The fingerprint placement isn't standard and I'm sure you don't want a lot smudges on the camera lens. You didn't get the curved screen talk. While the curves on both sides are cool, the curved bezels just look flimsy in my opinion. I wish the bezels on top and bottom were straight. The battery capacity is pretty same as its predecessor and that's another disappointment because I was expecting it to be at least 4000 mAh. Camera on the S8 duo has seen only a minor upgrade from the S7 duo. I had to return my previous Note 7 for a refund. I'm compelled to wait for the next Note or S9. Hope Samsung learns their lesson.
And why should I care about Samsung knowing ?? Lol it's easy just to put it under the camera specially with a long design like this it will be very far from the lens and would be better reach for people but it's just like apple trying to find any excuse for all the shit that they do to the design sometimes that's all, enough BS please
This might be a deal breaker for me, I absolutely love the design but if it loses on functionality, it is not much of a phone for me.
A lot of bulky software, when update all these bulky software will slow down the performance.
Innosainto, 30 Mar 2017Realy? Only iphone? Then sony must be doing it all wrong, damn Sony!!!okay...wrong syntax from my part...considering the rumors that iphone is also going to ditch the home key..the fingerprint sensor will most probably go to the back..since its one of the few phones having its camera at a corner..it has more freedom to place a finger print sensor at the back....sony..as we know has already resolved the problem quite cleverly by keeping the finger print at the side..something apple and samsung won't be able to do with their curved and tiny metal edges respectively

samsung shows that message when it feels that the sensor is dirty irrespestive of the phone model...in fact i think have seen a similar message on a lenovo phone...the position of the reader is not a huge deal, unless everyone got sensory neuropathy all of a sudden..the position of the camera in itself is where people rest there index finger..this was discussed and debated in detail when the nokia n8 came out..and since we are not going to let our flagships wander around naked i don't see why we can't feel out the hole for the fp sensor easily..currently i think only iphone can place a fingerprint sensor without smudging the camera
Better if they would have considered a car like wiper on the camera lens which would wipe the lens each time the FP sensor is used.
On a serious note, Apple's and Sony's placement is still the best IMO.
LG-G6-FTW, 30 Mar 2017That's because if you are using your right hand index finger to scan, there is high chance tha... moreWell,, it won't.. People who use S6 edge /edge +/ Note 5/ S7 know the difference between touching the camera and the heart rate monitor (which is where the fingerprint scanner is placed at in S8). Even if it does the camera will still be clean enough to take amazing photos. You can always clean the phone at the end of the day if you feel that you used it with sticky, oily, sweaty hands.

The scanner is placed where finger should be normally unlike other phones with clumsy design in middle to keep symmetry. When you hold your phone, you don't need the scanner to smudge the camera
Yeah, shld exchange the position of the flash and fingerprint scanner, no need to stretch a bit.
