Of course it will. The S8 is the most explosive phone of the year, and slated for a flaming success. Money is already burning a hole in people's pockets. Samsung is a company on fire.
Savor, 30 Mar 2017When I type on my phone, I usually use two hands to hold it and with both my thumbs typing in ... moreOr -you know- use AI for something useful like recognize accidental touches, instead of creating something useless like bixby.
The bezeless concept is the only good thing about this generation. It's only tarnished by the low specs (which probaby will get better next year) and the weird aspect ratio (which may *not* get better unfortunately)...
If Samsung was to keep the 16:9 aspect ratio (17:9 when soft button are added) we would get less tall phones and thus easier to handle and smaller to boot.
I mean imagine an S7 at the size of the of iphone 5. That's what we'd get if Samsung was not to get all gimmicky on us. Instead we got an even bigger phone than S7 without actually adding much use to it.
An 127x67mm phone was perfectly possible if they were to keep the 5.1 inches of s7. An ideal size for one handed use without actually losing (important) screen real estate.
Samsung are you serious, S8 will sell better. As a Samsung customer I will not buy your phone. Facts longer screen more difficult to reach notifications and narrower screen harder to type. Edge screen is good anymore, how many people had realized how difficult is to find a glass screen protector these day for the S7 edge. Pixel per square inch is less than the S7 edge 534ppi vs 529ppi. You increased storage capacity from 32GB to 64GB. Same camera as last year models and you talk about software improvements in the camera department, which i believe you can update the s7 and s7 edge too with software improvements. S8 and S8 plus are more expensive than the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus because you made the phone with glass. Last you made the Galaxy C9 pro of metal and you add 6GB of ram to that phone but not your flagships devices unacceptable Samsung.
I don't think it'll sell well. 900 EUR smartphone with non-removable battery??
also it doesn't look that good (although it's a personal taste), i hate curved edges.
G6 looks much better, i guess that's what will see a large sales boost.
When I type on my phone, I usually use two hands to hold it and with both my thumbs typing in portrait mode. With my S7e, I have to create a new habit on how to hold it or my palm will accidentally touch the edges.
It isn't as bad as my Sharp Aquos Crystal but it is still irritating to type on along with some SwiftKey lag thanks to the touch response and heavy Samsung skin underneath.
I find this bezel-less, curved display rather gimmicky and just hope this fad goes away but I know it won't and flagships of the next few years will all look the same. Rather have dual cameras than dual edges or bezel-less. We need some bezel on the sides unless you plan to voice text instead.
The 5th gen of the Galaxy S and LG G series were the best of their breed. Just a shame they were so maligned for their aesthetics and build quality when both the S5 and G5 had all the practical features you needed including removable battery.
We now live in an era where aesthetics matters more.
TechGirl90, 30 Mar 2017Of course it will sell well, not necessarily because it's better than the competition, but bec... moreIt won't sell well. Maybe in the first few months. But time and again history showed that people are not fools. In the longer run it will lose sales to s7
S4 had the greatest sales than any S phone (it was really the best S phone for its time)
S6 had the lowest despite the "facelift". As it turns out people care more for useful features than look.
S7 had more sales than S6
S8 would be S6 part deux. It *won't* sell well in the long run. Just watch!
Anonymous, 30 Mar 2017Sorry, but you need to go and read better the specs of the new S8! I read them:
Same sensor, same Ram , 10% faster SoC, same PPI, less battery (given that the camera is bigger), fingertip sensor in the back (more awkward to use)
What I get instead:
F#%%ing Bixby (bloatware)
A taller screen (as if most apps would ever going to use this)
30% better GPU (that's actually a decent upgrade)
Better selfie cam (OK that's a good too)
So yeah, I'm trhilled! Aren't you? I mean you stay the same or even lose in crucial things, but you gained ... bixbyyyyyy . Yeah! I can now be self-photographed more often too. My instagram account would work overtime #blessed.
Of course it will sell well, not necessarily because it's better than the competition, but because Samsung got two things going for them.
2. The Media
Galaxy S7 didn't sell too well, beating it shouldn't be much of a problem.
kirara, 30 Mar 2017Are you trying to use that phone as a desktop? that is too much.. even 3GB is ok.No I'm trying to use it as a flagship.
3GB is OK, but since it lacks ram caching it's dead slow by today's standards.
How insolent of me to demand good service for high prices. You are right we should take last year's hardware and be content.
BTW I doubt S8 will sell more than S7 *because of* how small the upgrade was.
Anonymous, 30 Mar 2017But really is 6gb ram mainstream? Do we really need that much of ram? It's overkill don't you ... more6GB is mainstream. It just hasn't reached the West. You can find 6GB phones for as little as $200 online. It's a pity that even mid range phones would feel faster after a while this gen (due to ram caching).
Jack Hobbs, 30 Mar 2017Seriously! I have 2gigs on my phone, tons of apps running in back ground and still only using ... moreYou don't use 44%, android drops background apps.
You misunderstand the point of ram. It's all about speed. Android uses it for ram caching, once you use a 6GB phone you'd know how far faster it is than 4GB phone. It is is an extra of 2GB of *free ram* (~2GB is used by the os and its processes) so you from 2GB to 4GB of free ram. That is huge and reflects to day to day performance.
All online speed test have 6GB phone win by a mile to day to day performance.
[deleted post]the s8 are the most visit page right now .it will stupid if thay ignore it
leo 007, 30 Mar 2017Wrong,it won't sell...i was expecting it to be a lot better than S7 edge, but there is nothing ... morei have an s7 edge and i would buy this in a wink..if i had that kind of money to throw around..so, no....actually waiting for the next note...won't throw away the edge..need 2 phones...
[deleted post]Question: Is it really really wrong if GSMArena keeps publishing articles about the Galaxy S8? Because they would be stupid if they didn't. I'm guessing articles about the Galaxy S8 are generating a LOADS of clicks. This website is basically their job. If you're the author of this website, you will do the same. (talking from experience here)
Just appreciate what you got here. AND if you don't like it, just ignore the article and don't bother posting a comment.
Savor, 30 Mar 2017Considering how Samsung is the worst OEM with software optimization and RAM management, I beli... moreIf S8 is bad then nothing is good in the world,, I hate when people who can't afford say crap about the only smartphone which cares about people who need perfection, who needs every latest and greatest tech in the sexiest unique body. The only sexier thing I saw in world is my girlfriend.
As Mandy Rice-Davies would have said, "Well they would say that, wouldn't they".
