My point being is that it simply does not make sense for a 2017 flagship like S8 to slab an outdated 6gb lpddr3 ram when they already released s8 with the more battery efficient 4gb lpddr4x. So, they should be using 6gb lpddr4x for the 6gb ram version S8+. People will go nuts if their 2017 flagship phone using old tech. Just like things as simple as bluetooth. S8 using the latest bluetooth 5.0 instead of bluetooth 4.2. It is a given fact to use the latest of the latest available hardware. You seriously want to see S8 with 6gb lpddr3???? Why you so ignorant?!
Anonymous, 08 Apr 2017"You may think the 6gb ram in C9 Pro is better than 4gb ram in S8 but no its not."
Those ar... moreThis!!! "no, because ram caching means that nand is used less so the tiny percentage that LPDDR4X is faster from LPDDR3 doesn't matter because the nand is used far less therefore making your phone far faster".
You wrote that! But I never replied to that!!!!!! Arghhhh!!!!
Zenodroid, 08 Apr 2017If you say so. But if you really tried the difference, you would say other things. Don't just ... moreLag is lag, I don't speak lag, I speak about speed. A phone that does not reload as often is speedier. Also if C9pro lags that's because Samsung coded it that way, its software is more than capable enough to never lag (Redmi 3 with worse hardware never lags). So if it does lag it's because wanted it to lag (installed additional services?) , the specs themselves are better.
You can know that if you install AOSP to both as C9pro would be faster, in Samsung rom is probably faster too, but maybe less smooth (bad Samsung drivers?)
Anonymous, 07 Apr 2017Ram speed matters faaaar less than ram amount. Even DDR3 is like 90 times faster than Nand ... moreIf you say so. But if you really tried the difference, you would say other things. Don't just read things, experience things instead. That's the way you know what matters. And c9 pro lags after short times heavy use.
Anonymous, 07 Apr 2017But that's always been the case with Android phones. iOS has always been more streamlined and ... moreSamsung is not a small one man shop. It is a fraternity so huge they do not know their own ass from their head.
Joselius, 08 Apr 2017Btw, the things that you quote, that was before I join this whole conversation. You definitely... more"You may think the 6gb ram in C9 Pro is better than 4gb ram in S8 but no its not."
Those are your exact words. I explained to you that you're wrong to think that 4GB of faster ram would manifest itself as a faster experience than 6GB of slower ram. I also gave you the reason (even LPDDR3 is 90 times faster than Nand speeds, so since a 6GB phone uses the nand far less it will feel faster due to the much faster *average* IO speed).
So, no , I responded to the right person. It's right there, you can read your post. Unless Samsung purposefully limits the use of the 6GB of ram (for example put a stringent control over it) then C9pro *would* feel faster. Interestingly enough it may have a better battery life too due to the far larger battery, despite using the less efficient RAM.
Anonymous, 08 Apr 2017You said 4GB LPDDR4x is better than 6GB LPDDR3 and I said "no, because ram caching means that ... moreBtw, the things that you quote, that was before I join this whole conversation. You definitely replied to the wrong person.
Joselius, 08 Apr 2017I think you replied to the wrong person. I never replied to anyone talking about effect of ram. You said 4GB LPDDR4x is better than 6GB LPDDR3 and I said "no, because ram caching means that nand is used less so the tiny percentage that LPDDR4X is faster from LPDDR3 doesn't matter because the nand is used far less therefore making your phone far faster".
In other words, unless Samsung limits the amount of ram caching available to the user, C9pro would be faster day-to-day than S8 simply because it would reload less.

This is the most unfair thing from Samsung, really shame on them. It had to be the international version and because China and S Korea are not special. 100% unfair for all Samsung's customers, me included.
Zenodroid, 07 Apr 2017C9 pro has lpddr3 ram at low speeds. 2015 technology.Ram speed matters faaaar less than ram amount.
Even DDR3 is like 90 times faster than Nand storage. That's what matters.
NokiaBeast, 07 Apr 2017Then I need to know why the S8 series with 4GB of RAM still reloads a lot of apps https://you... moreI just explained (in the post you quoted) why. Mostly because of backgrounding. Samsung has it, iphone (mostly) doesn't. Samsung uses about 10 times more Ram per background app.
Anonymous, 07 Apr 2017All is good, until the wasteful apps strike.Apps are always wasteful. Optimization is expensive, hardware is not (by comparison). It's always cheaper to add/buy more hardware than trying to run things on the software.
Optimization is governed by laws of multiple dynamics (many configuration interacting in different ecosystems), hardware evolution is governed by the laws of the simple (basic physics that is known for almost a century now). Obviously you'd see more hardware than optimization. Optimization starts where the hardware evolution slows down, but then phone evolution would slow too as optimization is haaaard and gives small results each time.
Anonymous, 07 Apr 2017Nope,chrome alone uses 3.1 gigabytes in memory while I'm browsing 25 tabs (yeah I'm crazy but ... moreChrome is just one app. Ram stores more than one app at once, if not you have constant reloads and a slow phone. So yes, the more Ram the better.
Joselius, 07 Apr 2017Its so funny to see average consumers dont understand what ram is really about. You may think ... moreI am not an averse consumer, I'm a software tester!
I just told you what the effect of Ram is. You choose to disbelieve it at your peril.
Food for your mind: http://www.linuxatemyram.com/
More Ram = a faster phone. Always! Unless the OS is stringent with the amount fapps it allows in the background, but that's easily solvable w build.prop edits.
Zenodroid, 07 Apr 20175g is the newest technology, sorry m8. Good to see you survived the blow 7.He is talking about RAM
Anonanoymoususes, 07 Apr 2017what u really can do with 6gb ram ... is that really necessary ?Nope, chrome alone uses 3.1 gigabytes in memory while I'm browsing 25 tabs (yeah I'm crazy but 6 GB of RAM really helps here)
Note7 owner, 07 Apr 2017Apple iPhones have 2 G and it will go toe to toe with these 6G phones. But that's always been the case with Android phones. iOS has always been more streamlined and responsive than Android. a 2GB iPhone is more responsive than a 3GB Galaxy today.
It's not Sammy's fault though.
If only Samsung had the full source code to Google's proprietary Android OS, so that they could make the upstream improvements to memory management, SMP, and security hardening. If only Samsung had the billions of dollars needed to invest in competent developers who could contribute back to the mainline kernel, filesystem development, and drivers so that they could support software updates on their phones for more than one major release.
But alas, it is not so. Android is a closed-source OS and Samsung is a small one-man shop without the tremendous programming and monetary resources available to powerhouses like OpenBSD and CopperheadOS.
Maybe one day they will get there, and help contribute to the betterment of Android.
