Anonymous, 12 Apr 2017You're wrong, it's a fork. It's to Google's android what Debian is to Ubuntu
Fork: https://... moreDude the link you provide does not contain any article about fork(software development), infact the topic fork(sortware develoftment) does not even exist.
For your furthur information, when you say fork you mean you are copying the project from original project to other branch/folder for testing, improvising, etc, purposes. Its a parent-child concept. If you've used github you will constantly come across forks. MIUI is totally build on top of android architecture. Android maybe linux but it is a strip down customize linux kernel, this same kernel is use by miui (incase of tizen they dont use this same kernel though the implementation is similar). Most importantly, miui is using Android Virtual machine though maybe little bit customized, android sdk, and so on... So it is still an Android os but its not stock android... They call it android replacement os. You may call it different os when it doesn't run apk and utilizes its own vm. If you compare linux os like ubuntu to android than they are not same ok...kernel maybe same but the os designed and the way they operate are different. Ubuntu runs natively on hardware, their design consist of shell on top of kernel, shell is where everything operates on ubuntu. On android things are bit different, everything happens on Dalvik Virtual machine. Anyways it will take whole year to explain their differences, youll have to go through Advance OS Desing and Architecture subjects to understand everything.

There are plenty of cuntom roms out there which are just like miui rom , battery management/ power management, whatever you name it. The one OS which you can call android based is Tizen, because tizen is totally different os or in other word non abdroid.
Main weakness of S8 is Display Easy Broken, Thats why in Malaysia here if preorder they offer 1 time Free Display replacement

Someone Else, 11 Apr 2017Wow. Such an arrogant comment. MIUI is NOT an OS. Android is an OS. MIUI stands for Mi User In... moreAnd android wouldn't exist without Linux yet it rarely is upgraded to the latest version of Linux kernel.
That's nonsense talk. MIUI used to be a UI on top of android since MIUI 5 it became a fork of android. Do you know what a fork is? Every now and then gets seperate injections from Google code mostly to keep in pace with latest developments on app development but actually has a life of its own.
A miui 8 phone , no matter whether it is running on kit kat, lollipop or marshmallow, is differvent than miui 7 even if (say) miui runs on kit kat or marshmallow too.
There is a reason MIUI 's numbering system is seperate from google's. Because it's the dominant and only relevant one. Of course you wouldn't know that since you never owned or maintained a single Xiaomi device.
In fact I welcome when MIUI refrains from upgrading before the new android's kinks are ironed out. For example you can have xposed support even in the latest version of miui because its runtime is based on marshmallow, yet you *still* have feature parity to nougat (actually you have more features than the ones that you don't ).
Also not unlike stock Google, you never lose speed on the long run. It's a very stable and fast OS. It's hard to go back to amateur work like grace UX or LG's patch job. If I was to use sth other than miui it would be stock Google, it's the only one in that level of excellence ... less supported though (after 24 months googlE drops support of devices).
Anonymous, 11 Apr 2017Because you never owned not even seen a flagship Xiaomi. People with Redmi come to your shop t... moreWow. Such an arrogant comment. MIUI is NOT an OS. Android is an OS. MIUI stands for Mi User Interface (which looks like iOS, tbh)
MIUI wouldn't even exist without Android! How is Android secondary? The fact that it brings weekly update doesn't show that it's better. It shows that MIUI NEEDS a weekly update just to fix some bugs. (Unlike stock Android, Xperia-UI, TouchWiz, LG UX, HTC Sense) Frankly, major companies spent their time and effort building a stable Android skin so that they don't need an often update.
You basically saying that, in a Xiaomi smartphone, MIUI is an OS while Android doesn't matter. I mean, whaaa????? You get it all wrong there. Stop spreading this ridiculous lies.
MIUI is a skin, just like TouchWiz, HTC Sense, Xperia-UI, LG UX. #fact
Btw, there's no need to reply to me.
