techlover1, 01 May 2017Great milestone, so big congrats to Samsung (S7/Edge). Now let's see with the S8/+ what it wil... moreIt will be less. First projections talk about 50 mil
S8 shapes up to be the disaster that S6 was (worst selling S phone for years).
For a good reason too (it's a downgrade over S7 in the important things like ergonomy and autonomy)
AnonD-404954, 01 May 2017i bet galaxy s8 can reach 65 million tooS8 will sell less because it is less. I mean literally, less battery, worse aspect ratio, basically the same performance...
BTW the expectations about S8 is 50 mil, but it would be less.
S6 did 45 mil for a good reason too (it was a downgrade over S5). I expect a similar fate to S8 too.
It would be most funny because fanboys still don't get that specs sell on android.
S7 had specs over S6 and sold.
S6 had looks over S5 and it didn't
Same with S8 over S7 (looks don't sell too much on android).
S3 is still the king of most sold Flagship phone on its time, beat and outsold iPhone 4s and 5.

I'm sure if Samsung created an OS of their own, totally leaving Android, they will be even bigger than they already are.
galaxyS7, 01 May 2017When was the last time you ever purchased a Samsung phone.? For your information, f... moreI was torn between this S8 and iPhone 7 red 128gb. I finally decided to get Apple even though more expensive. I had S5 as my secondary phone before when I had iPhone 6 as my primary. Bought them same year 2014. My S5 had since retired the year after, but my iPhone I gave to my brother is working great and super fast even up to this day. I guess it all goes down to personal experiences. Good for you it's working great. Mine wasn't.
Anonymous, 01 May 2017Where are the people saying Samsung will go bankrupt, and the S8 will be a flop and not reach ... moreI read Sony's fans proclaim like that. It's same every year, a particular X phone will outsell latest Galaxy S and Apple's flagship this year and make Samsung and Apple bankrupt and finally out of business. It goes on repeatedly but their wish never happens really.
Anonymous, 01 May 2017Sony cares about how much money can be earned per unit. No matter how many are shipped. Hu... moreFlagships are the ones which bring profits for the company than low end and mid end phones. Your math works out same for Samsung's yesteryear flagship S7 and for that matter any other brands flagships. S7/E and XZ both are priced in the same range and you can calculate how much profit Samsung got for each of the 55 million S7/E sold and compare it to 5-8 million(don't know exact figures but Sony's overall phone sales stood at 20 million). Samsung, Apple, LG, htc ... everyone cares for profits only not just Sony, if that is not the case Samsung and Apple won't be at the top of the chain profitswise and if not for XZ and its previous flagship, Sony would have been in difficult situation in mobile divisions.
AnonD-525557, 01 May 2017Your math is wrongThen show us how u would do the math mr genius.
Anonymous, 01 May 2017You expect s7 to sell 55 million this year too? OkExpect? Here another ignorant who cant read. It already hit 55 million mark this year.

Hu... moreClearly you don't have a clue how sales work.
Sony (or any manufacturer) only get a fraction of the sales price... after the retailer mark up, shipping and all the other over heads.
AnonD-27765, 01 May 2017Yeah, sad news for other manufacturers who can't sell 55 million units of all their products c... moreSony cares about how much money can be earned per unit. No matter how many are shipped.
Huawei sold more than 100 million smartphones last year and still lost money.
Lets suppose XZs costs 180 dollars to be made.
If Sony sells it for 680, Sony earns 500 per unit.
If Sony sells it for 500 Sony earns 320 per unit.
Difference is more than 50% of profit.
AnonD-510098, 01 May 2017Who sells the second most? In android space?Huawei ... About 130 million units in 2016
Though I m iPhone user but still hv s4mini of Samsung company.. works fine , not so laggy or buggy or whatever terms are used .. peace
Samsung sold more units from a single smartphone model in one Q1 2017 than Sony did with all their phones combined in Q4 2016.
Best phone I've ever had. I don't plan on changing it for at least 3 to 4 years...probably even longer.
Still the most features. Still the best hardware (exynos). Still one of the best cameras. Still the best software (Samsung apps are much better then google's).
The only thing I would change is plastic back instead of glass and removable battery, and also ir blaster.
