I'm fan of OnePlus but sure benchmark is useless and can be faked by oem easily.
Also than Sony can't beat OP which with 3T is the fastest Android phone with the Google pixel.
My s7 exynos is faster than the 835 and I can't really see a difference from my old Note 4 that I upgraded from. I could already play all games on the Note 4, and all that talk about the experience being 'smoother' is just placebo to justify paying so much money.
The only real progress in the entire tech world is Nvidia desktop GPUs. Eveything else, from Intel and AMD CPUs to mobile phones, we've hit a hard wall of huge diminishing returns.
All you're paying for now, when it comes to phones, is bragging rights.
We do know benchmarks ain't shit.
The reason that Samsung Exynos phones are slower than OnePlus phones is because of the terrible software that run on them, not because of higher benchmarks
XZs with SD820 can beat the 3T in most popular tasks (social media apps opening, other basic apps opening, camera speed, etc.) despite the lower benchmark score.
Not saying OnePlus 5 won't be a great device, because anything powered by SD835 is awesome, but finding the best performance must be done by doing them in reality instead of relying on benchmark scores. Chinese OEMs are already caught cheating in benchmarks, including OnePlus, so that concludes enough that they aren't very reliable
