HTC U11 was extremely close to making me crown it as the best 2017 phone, but it is a but or two...letting aside the fact that the new glass design is a fingerprint and crack magnet in comparison with the durable aluminium body of the 10, there is one thing that shows how stupid HTC is, the fact that it cutted down the single most important feature of Snapdragon 835, Bluetooth 5.0...so they cut the 3.5mm jack and put a generation old Bluetooth(4.2 LE) which has 1/4 the range and 1/2 the speed of 5.0??? I think they don't want to be the best, they just want to be mediocre...They put an incredible camera, one of the best of the market (same size, pixel count, aperture, autofocus as S7/S8, maybe even same sensor considering all the similarities), a great screen(5.5" IPS LCD QHD), but they cut the 3.5mm jack without the addition of BT 5.0? This is clearly not a phone for music lovers, HTC messed up things again...I am waiting for Zach to test its durability after the disaster named "U Ultra" and test myself the squeeze thing because it sounds like a gimmick or interesting thing, you never know until you try.

Much cheaper in USA, $649 equates to £505. Why is that difference for European markets!?

              Phone looks great...

AnonD-145316, 16 May 2017You will be surprised!! HTC can't make the mistake they did with u ultra.Yes but the design could tell something. I mean like I'm guessing it is going to be like HTC U ULTRA because of the design on the back

Sigh... as a diehard HTC fan it kills me to see them always making the same dumb mistake of pricing it too damn high and always, ALWAYS giving their flagships a totally weakass battery.. 3000mah for a 5.5 QHD lcd? major fail. Phone looks killer with the glass back but no wireless charging wtf HTC its cheap as sh*t why not include it!

That fingerprint sensor.. with all that bezel (which they didn't opt for the 18:9 screen ratio either) you think you could just make it a tad bigger? Target area was too small on HTC 10 and still looks totally disproportionate today.

No headphone jack is paving the way forward for wireless sure, I get it, hell even support it, but for $800 with no wireless headphones included? You're suppose to be the audiophile phone tech company why so cheapskate on the earphones. Phone's not out yet and so much fails. Disappointed.

HTC change whoever is in charge of your flagships cause he dumb as fk

Bigger pixels? Check. dual pixel auto focus? Check. OIS? check. widest Aperture? check. It is gonna be heck of a camera.
S8 has all but OIS. Pixel loses dual pixel auto focus as well.
BTW, lack of dual camera isn't a deal breaker for me. Actually it isn't a factor, it's just an extra. But less interesting things about U11 are,
1)battery. With QHD LCD, 3000mah is on smaller side, specially if the phone is comparatively big, thick. Slimmer OP3T has 3400mah and smaller Mi6 has 3200mah. They could have easily put in a bigger battery, period.
2)speakers. First they messed the boomsound, and now the front single speaker in place of earpiece is really tiny compared to 10. Also, the 3.5mm jack. phone is thick, with enough bezels, still packing comparatively small battery, then what "U" did htc with the space u saved with the removal of 3.5mm jack?!

Anonymous, 16 May 2017That will be such a great consolation when it turns off due to the too smaller battery! No problem the 835 chipset proved to be energy efficient, and there is fast charging when the battery is out! Let's give the phone the benefit of doubt instead of bashing it while the phone is not even out to the consumer.
