And to think Apple isn't selling anything cheap and midrange, and their models are limited, yet they're still crazy successful. Meanwhile in Samsung I'm pretty sure they got those big numbers due to their other cheaper models where more people could afford.

LG is getting behind because they are not increasing their battery capacity while others are doing so. Sony is getting behind because their phones are good but their designs are not anything special and not palm friendly. Xiaomi has the ability to get in the top 5 position but they don't make phones that has memory cards which we need. Now their latest flagship phone has excluded the 3.5 earphone pot. Very beautiful phone without earphone jack. It seems they are not targeting everybody in the globe.

It is seeming almost impossible for any phone company to unseat Samsung from the first position. The J series and A series are selling more for them. Huawei is doing so well and making increase every time but still at the third position. The first position Huawei desires will not come now at all. But they have worked so hard to put HTC, LG and SONY behind them.

I came in one of their stores and I simply asked the specs of one of their phones. They keep blabbering about Octa-cores, Megapixels and they told that their screen was very HD. I asked them what was the SoC that they mentioned and they don't even know! They just say Qualcomm and Mediatek. I asked them about what was the camera sensor of the F3 but they just say 13 Megapixels and 16 megapixels. When I asked them the resolution of the screen and what type it is, they just said "very HD", they don't even know whether it's OLED or LCD! And they bragged about the F3 being better than some of last year's Flagships, like the V20 and the Xperia XZ, they mocked those phones for being weak by having Quad Core chipsets and they even bragged about their OS being as fluid as the iPhones. It turns out I know more about their phones than them :/

People seem to forget that Samsung's mobile division has a whole conglomerate backing it up. Huawei may be selling good at the moment, and they may get closer, but seeing from history, Samsung is very adaptive, and will change the game if they see risk.

Huawei sell well out of China.

Just to make sure you are aware, "low costs" is also a key aspect of profits. Only in the case of profits, the making of the device and its parts have to be low cost.....aka cheap. The profits come when people are willing to pay for it or get it subsidized by carriers.
