GALAXY S8 aluminum frame vs XPERIA XZ PREMIUM nylon plastic frame.
Here the clear winner is XPERIA XZ PREMIUM. Why?
S8 having metal frame has lot more chances of its screen getting crack on a fall because of its frames inflexible nature. In case of XZ PREMIUM when it falls the frame takes the hit and absorbs the shock as it being flexible and prevents screen from cracking easily.
I think last XPERIA to have full metal frame was Z2. Back then SONY was able to provide metal frame because the device had dragon trail glass instead of the gorilla. Dragontrail was hard and nearly unbreakable but was heavy. To reduce the overall weight of the product SONY had to go with gorilla.

Oooh, fancy color. From newest to old, I own S7 in pink, HTC10 in red, M8 in red, Z3c in orange, Note4 in pink. Unfunky colored phones not listed. Z3c orange is definitely still my favorite in color. Wish Sony would bring that color back, then I'll consider getting another Sony. My Z3c developed touch screen issue that I just gave up on instead of giving Sony another dime.
