Also Sony is getting worse with naming. They could totally do L for low budget, X for midrange and Z for flagship
Now it's too late, if they change again users will @@ sony what the?!

I really liked Xperia X tho... the initial price was bad, but it soon dropped deep (since no one buys it), and then it's good value. Sony should figure out why it's not selling the super midrangers well. That is wtf pricing

Damn I was looking forward to X1 with Snap 660 which is dope, camera of XZs but better software processing+interface. Also Sony could trim the bezels a bit, but now they drop the X line??

Focusing on flagship is a good move.
Continuing the mid range segment is confusing. That segment is ultra crowded.

The marketing team that advised dropping of the Z series should be fired. Even these days, their naming scheme is horribly confusing. I was up to date about all Z series phones, now I have no clue which phone is which, I just see a lot of X-something-something phones and I move on, as the whole line is mediocre anyway. I remembered the Z3 or Z3 compact, I remembered that its their flagship Z series and 3 is newer than 2. Now I have no clue what is what and it isnt helped by the fact that Im less interested to pay attention as their phones are less good for their times now.

It's a good decision for Sony to do this strategy. I mean, if they can just create one flagship like the XZ Premium as their only flagship phone and ditch the like of the XZs and focus on creating great mid rangers such as XA and XA1 Ultra coz the XA Ultra I believe has been a well received phone from last year, being claimed to have been able to take the place of the XZ and X Performance of the phone has been made water and dust resistant and if the phone has used Snapdragon 820 coz it's camera especially the selfie camera is said to be better than the flagship ones.

Anonymous, 25 May 2017What do you mean by optimization one of my friend got z3+. It automatically shut down camera v... moreIn my comment I was talking about how Sony manages to get average battery backup with below average battery capacity. In other words I was talking about how Sony optimized their devices to be efficient in terms of battery.

As for why Z3+ camera shuts down due to overheating is probably due to the combination of SD 810, completely sealed phone and pretty much non-existent cooling solution.

Again, why Sony phone doesn't take good pics at night is nothing to do with the efficiency of the phone. But in reality low light picture quality can be improved with manual mode by lowering the ISO and their daylight shots are second to none as long as you do not zoom in too much.

Lastly, I don't have any idea what you mean by "can't compete with Chinese brands ". If you mean in terms of sales then yes Sony can't compete in sales numbers due to their expensive phones, but if you're talking about quality then I'll say " You have no idea about phones".
