Well, as a first (on paper) impression, it sounds really great for the price. With: 6.44" FHD display, SD625, 4GB RAM & 64/ 128GB internal storage ( + SD card slot (important), 12MP Main (dual tone LED flash [4K Video]), 5MP front, Fingerprint scanner, Android 7.1.1 Nougat, (a fantastic) 5,300 mAh battery, and with Quick Charge 3.0 (important), Dual SIM ( hybrid, but at least better than a single), USB Type-C, (& very important) a dual stereo speakers. For a very affordable price of approx €220 (64GB version). Absolutely well done and definitely keep it up to Xiaomi.
AnonD-433808, 25 May 2017I had so many hopes with this device. Alas, SD625 took all the charm away of this beauty. But,... moreWell as a current owner of the Lenovo P2 with SD625 and 5,100 mAh battery, I can say that chip is not shabby at all. Performance is snappy and smooth, and gaming is very good with no frame drops. Loading times for games can be a bit of a stretch, but once the gameplay starts the higher cores kick in and you have no issues. Best thing about this chip is that it never overheats, even after prolonged hours of gaming + it's greatly battery efficient.
Whyyy, just why 6.4 inch + market is sooo small and weak.
There's basically only Mi Mix for someone who would like something with high end chip.
Surficial, 25 May 2017Release an sd 660 version, better performance and efficiency than the 1st gen one. Wait for redmi pro 2 if you want sd660

AnonD-315522, 25 May 2017again with Snapdragon 625?! WTH!!! why cant Xiaomi use the upperclocked version Snapdragon 62... moreIerno, bad support of LTE bands and no carrier support for VoLTE would be a deal breaker for many people. Xiaomi phones are not great PHONES outside of China. Decent devices though.
Muthu, 25 May 2017Agreed with your point, but nobody ASKED Xiaomi to rush Mi Max2 to the market with SD 625. The... moreIndeed nobody asks, as nobody but Xiaomi itself can control. There is always reasoning behind every business decision. A lot, I mean A LOT of factors can come into play. I believe if only Qualcomm released the two on time, they will be chosen. But it didn't happen and Xiaomi already had a roadmap, so they must do something with the condition as this market is highly competitive. Even with what you say, is a month sufficient? What if not? Let's say, okay make it two months. That's MAYBE enough. But there's another device in the pipeline nearby! And so on, and so on and so on. A decision has to be made and this is it.
again with Snapdragon 625?! WTH!!!
why cant Xiaomi use the upperclocked version Snapdragon 626?!
and please wheres the NFC Sensor!! Why Xiaomi why?!
Xiaomi always put their midranger with big battery and minimum features...
If they fix this issues, i will be the first lining up to buy their phones!!
Please fix this issue Xiaomi...
I had so many hopes with this device. Alas, SD625 took all the charm away of this beauty. But, there's other things besides processor which should have been taken care of - Fingerprint Sensor position and NO 6GB RAM this time !
Many people have experienced that it's a bit unfeasible to stretch their fingers to reach for the sensor. It would have been great if sensor would have moved to the front.
I believe that now it's better to go for Redmi Note 4 as it has same processor / storage + 4100mAH battery at much lesser price. Or should I wait for Redmi Note Pro 2 ?
Mi max is a really nice phone.. Awesome battery and never hangs. Great for watching videos and playing games. Am sure max 2 won't disappoint.
Rodrigo Robredo, 25 May 2017I was expecting atleast SD 630...well i guess ill just put my hopes on Redmi pro 2, if you want highest SD
, buy Mi3- Mi6

Marvin, 25 May 2017I see no headphone jack. Don't tell me that they took that one out as well. Here's a photo from the official Xioami website gallery http://c1.mifile.cn/f/i/16/chain/max2/gallery-02.jpg
Seems like there's a headphone jack after all.

Rokka, 25 May 2017Oh shoot, you're right..where is it?Look at the picture #4, it shows the top part of the phone and although the angle isn't perfect, it does seem like there's a mini jack hole there.
AnonD-658925, 25 May 2017I am a big xiaomi fan but this was so disappointing. First they didnt release the mi6 plus. No... moreNot only this, but Redmi Note 3 to Redmi Note 4 was a downgrade. It has become fashionable for Xiaomi to release new devices with downgraded specs, to improve the margin.
no! a big no! snapdragon 625 was launched in february 2016!!! why are we being sold that ?! they could wait and launch mi max with 630!!! and quick charge 4.0.
these soc's are a great upgrade to 625/652!!
