In 2015 I might be using a 7 mm thick smartphone powered by 8 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5 TB phone memory, 16 gb RAM and ROM, running both android 6.9 and WP14 os (no wonder WP os in the 2nd place in 2015)... I just want my normal life's back!

Yeah, you are right, there are people who wants, but the people who wants that don't know anything about smartphone hardware and only want that because they want to show to their friends how amazing and useless is their new cheap-feeling plastic phone with 4Ghz CPU.
REAL smartphone evolution should bring new functionality, not only increasing the numbers to fool people.

No matter how silly it is to have 2Ghz duo core. There will still be a market for it because people who buy high ends wants to update their phone every 6 months!
What is even more stupid is buying phones encrusted with useless gems and precious metals, with lame specs. There is still a market for it cause rich people have money for it.
Besides i for one supports samsung on this one. They do it because they can and they know there are people who wants it... ¬_¬ all they have to do is develop the next gen of batteries that can cope with it.

I have to disagree with GSMArena, this is no exciting news for smartphone lovers, it's exciting news for dumb people. What is the next "evolution"? 6" screen "smart"phone that you can't put on any pocket?
I think that Samsung is overly excited, that will probably make them fall.

This is NOT a good trend. Reminds me of back in the Pentium 4 days - the Pentium 4 was one of Intel's WORST processors - had a big GHz number so the idiots would clamour all over it but was a POWER HOG.
I'd rather have a 1GHz CPU with better battery life than today - the battery life on today's existing smartphones is just unacceptable IMO.

this processor speed race it totally stupid, what to do with so much processing power, considering that you will have to charge your mobile every day and you will be limited by the screen size. you cannot replace a computer with a mobile phone.

Regardless of where the innovations have been within the past years (which have not all been on Android btw), nowhere does it state that this is guaranteed to be an Android Phone. Samsung has Bada as well as Android and this could be their time to bring it out strong with a 2GHZ Dual Core. Don't get bent out of shape, it most likely will be an Android phone but the possibility of it not being is there.
