Note7 owner, 31 May 2017What happened to skinning Android and selling them under the Microsoft Brand? Good question. To date, two such devices have been released, both a few years back.

AnonD-632062, 31 May 2017Keep trying Microsoft! Best of luck. Just don't get into financial troubles though.Dear Obi Wan K. I think I may have seen you comment on GSM Arena before (although I do not recall what, if anything you typed). In any case, I too would not mind it if Microsoft was able to turn things around, good luck MS :-) .

People who used to walled garden/limited runtime environment (like iOS or WinRT) will never appreciate the possibility of what full OS can deliver.

It still wouldn't convince developers to write apps for it, and PC sales have been shrinking for years. So you'd basically be making a very expensive miniature version of something that nobody wants anyways. I just don't understand this desire for full W10 on a phone.

Unless their new mobile OS is gonna be as functional as a full Windows OS, it won't make a difference on the market. They really should struggle to make it work as a full operating system on a small screen if they want attention. Otherwise, Android will remain the choice of most people.

Weed, 01 Jun 2017Windows 10 mobile runs very smoothly when all apps are updated, even better than the 'rest'That used to be true. But all their 1gb ram phones choke on the official Facebook and messenger app.
Right now the only phones i can even recommend are the 950 series that has 3gb ram. Even then it opens up slow. And for some reason its still pretty expensive. You can get last year's flagship android phones for almost the same price.

Microsoft being reckless as of lately... Since Intel stepped out of mobile MS should have ordered some custom x86 AMD chips with LTE and release smartphones with a proper Windows version. They're partners with Xbox, this isn't like reinventing the wheel... That would also allow MS to use their large PureView sensors with a dedicated image processor, which is not supported in W10M.

Windows 10 was probably a year too early and not fully tested, but released as the Lumia 950 was being launched to have it run out if the box

Windows 8 runs perfectly, Windows 10 is such a bug ridden O/S even 1.5 years after faults are still being introduced even in the Creators Update

To be blunt Windows 10 is so problematic that Microsoft have stopped phone production altogether!

The other loss is Blackberry 10 OS, Blackberry are still developing QNX which is the basis behind BB10 but the QNX development is for autonomous vehicles, i.e. driverless cars, the phones using the insecure Android.

As a Windows 8 user my take is there can't be a development of Windows 10 as it us un salvageable, so it us either totally new or a major upgrade to the W8 platform, but I don't see any Windows 10 being able to migrate.

The problem I have is the lack of choice, not going to iOs, and more Android are looking like iOS, do I need to send my phone off just to change the battery

AnonD-27765, 30 May 2017They should give up already. It's not cool to own a Microsoft product in 2017.And it's cool to have android with billions of viruses and thanks for the big market android have then the trend is to make new virus on them to. Same with IOS as they have lots of customers now with old and new devices.

Windows Phone market is just so small that there is no point to make virus on them. And once Apple used the line be different use apple or was it Nokia. NVM who was that, but now when you want to be different then you will buy a windows phone.

I would like to have a new windows phone as my Lumia 830 goes nuts as soon as I but in sim card. When sim isn't in, then phone works normal.

That Indian guy is running Microsoft into the grounds. The company spend tens of billions developing and marketing Windows phone and he just killed it for no reason as it was catching on.

"Branch" will probably end up incompatible with present Windows Mobile 10. A new OS.

MS should consider Windows with Android APK file support
changing the UX will kill the current windows apps too

Windows mobile is a low app eco system
Android is a less secure OS

                                        Windroid version of Windows Mobile
                                        which runs on Windows OneCore
capable of running android apk files natively without an emulator
would be a gain for windroid ecosystem

100% windows strategy will not work anymore
100% android is a suicide too
Windows Mobile has to go hybrid
let Windows desktop OS be for desktops
and Windroid OS be for mobile
