*Phone is shaped to imitate the iPhone 4. How do you know they wanted to imitate?
*Icons sweep horizontally from left to right...like they do on my WM phone with SPB shell on it and many phones do this.
*Four default static icons at the bottom of each main menu screen....? haven't you seen any other phones at all? And haven't you ever had a phone which you could customise so you could add as many icons wherever you wanted?
*Camera is positioned in the same place as iPhone 4. So maybe it's the only place they could fit it in, it's not exactly a large area they have to place it in.
All your points aren't valid as other phones have done it before.
Next you'll claim it's a copy because it has a touch screen.
Any touch screen phone with a minimalist design is going to resemble an iPhone. Most of the the phone is the screen! Apple is just being petty.
If it looks like an iphone then I don't want one. Who wants the latest technology that looks like an old has been.
bheureum, 19 Apr 2011Ahahahahahahahaha .. I Agree With You .. :D :D :Dhahahahahahaha........awesome comment dude
u r right both of them should be sued
yes i agree with apple.. im using samsung galaxy ace.. and its 100% clear that samsung is copying apple. 80 out of 100 . but its what apple is crying now a days.. coz nokia is also fighting with him and about android market well android is beast very powerful .. apple is out of competition as i know.
Patents should be abolished as soon as possible. They are state granted monopolies which do not belong to market economy. They reduce competition and stifle innovation.
It's quite clear from reading all of these comments that YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE GALAXY PHONES IN ACTION!!!
Honestly, get a demonstration of a Samsung Galaxy Ace. Compare the design to an iPhone 4 and the UI to the iPhone 3GS.
*Phone is shaped to imitate the iPhone 4
*Icons sweep horizontally from left to right
*Four default static icons at the bottom of each main menu screen
*Camera is positioned in the same place as iPhone 4
*The same "dots" are used to indicate what menu screen you're on
*Icon design is too similar to Apple's
Before you all complain go out and use a Samsung Galaxy Ace, compare it with an iPhone 4 - hold them together!
Once you do you'll understand why Apple have brought this case - Samsung has shamelessly ripped off the design.
may be samsung should stop producing a4 chips and lets see how many iphone apple can pukeout
bummy, 19 Apr 2011Whaaaaaaaat?? My Samsung 3GS looks nothing like an iPhone.I mean Samsung Galaxy S
It's not actaully a big deal. Companies have been filing lawsuits against each other for years. It's all abour posturing and raking in as much cash as possible. Jobs probably isn't even involved in this.
It would be funny if Apple won though :)
From the start I have never liked iPhones design, too much unnecessary space at the top and bottom makes the screen look small, I wish samsung copied something from HTC they make very sexy phones like desire HD it makes the screen look really big and with that metal body it looks like an expensive phone. My request to Samsung would be since you have changed the processor to 1.2 if there is time change the design with thiner borders and metal body. That would make Galaxy S 2 outstanding indeed. I bought an Atrix people could not believe it is so powerful as it looks very cheap like HTC HD... just my 2 points worth.
AnonD-6514, 19 Apr 2011Yeah right!
No updates? Blame your carrier for delayed updates.
Samsung is first one to roll... moreThat Gingerbread update you're talking about has been pulled out by Google for some unknown reasons. It's most likely a critical bug. Samsung sucks on the software side. Those copycats can't even get an update right. That's how much they suck when it comes to software.
well i think motorola should sue all mobile companies, they were the first one to make the cell phone radio, with partnership from at&t. without this tech cellphones would not exist, you would not be making calls or texting. also nokia made their own version and for god sake apple iphone has hardware from samsung the processor, the memory, some other parts from toshiba
Nishank, 19 Apr 2011Its amazing how Apple can fight over curved icons.. It's never going to affect their sales any... moreApple have guts to sue Samsung because they probably figured things out how to live without a partnership with the Korean copy cats. I say good for Apple for suing Samsung and exposing them for their copying ways. Only Samsung does this lame copying and you won't see anything from Sony, HTC and Moto that looks like a copy of the iPhone.
the grid layout icons has been around way before apple even made phones, sony ericsson had grid based icon layout, so did some others, lg prada ws first phone with capacitive screen, it came out before iphone, iphone copied its design. and samsung makes hardware products for apple iphone, and apple like a scorpion stings them in the back. sony is making a big mistake now aswell by giving them the exmor r sensors for iphone 5. nothing in the iphone is made by apple, they use stuff from samsung, toshiba, hitachi, etc etc. pure back stabbers
Trichar, 19 Apr 2011Makes me laugh reading all these fandroid comments.
Yeah the Galaxy S 2 will be king of the... moreYeah right!
No updates? Blame your carrier for delayed updates.
Samsung is first one to roll out Gingerbread update to their Galaxy S.
No one else has done that. Not even HTC. So that no update argument is invalid for rest of the world. Its the whole carrier model in USA that needs to be blamed for the shitty delayed updates with bloatware fused in.
And Galaxy S 2 will have best in class hardware for the majority of this year. Even if iPhone 5 which is already pushed back from its summer launch to spring launch will not have better hardware that this. Even if it has A5, the Exynos has it covered today.
HTC, SE, NOKIA have thier own style, only Samsumg copy iPhone style and doesn't have it's own style... Shame on you Samsung...
