Jozo, 05 Jun 2017squeeze phones were in japan before ZTE. Sharp if I am not mistaken.Sharp's squeeze phones are not exactly squeeze phones, they have a "grip sensor" that is mainly used to detect when it's held in hand, such as pick-up to wake.

The Galaxy S3 broke so easily because the bottom end curved downwards and covered a frequent point of impact in the same piece of glass that covered the screen.

Frames are what protect screens, not bezels. Making a phone with a strong frame that is raised over the glass and a rubber damper in between is what will keep it from cracking easily.

Bezel-less phones are crap. It is a crap and useless design. Bezels are useful because they protect the screen at drops/impacts and protect the screen from accident touch at the edge from your hand/palm.

People shouldn't care about pointless things like bezel-less design, curved edges and thin body. People should care about and appreciate things like removable battery.

mjrmagallanes, 04 Jun 2017And Sony is still embracing dem bezels. Lol, but in all fairness, they still retain the front ... moreFront Facing speakers are irrelevant. They would always be small and tinny. Side facing speakers can be almost as good (used the Mediapad M3's) without having to make bezels gargantuan.

Also Front Facing speaker don't need to make the bezels gargantuan period... I don't know what Sony is doing ... I don't think anybody does, they don't even use the space for hardware buttons ... nothing, just make the phone taller without any good reason...

I don't understand this game.
I think that the bezels now are on a good level because i see the bezels as a protection.
The idea of just a screen is cool but it should not go to far in my opinion.
The Bezels of the iPhone are just good but they have never been a protection because if it falls your whole phone is as good as unable to use.

% better must be percentage towards 100%. Currently it doesn't show much.
As of like, if average is 50. And a phone of that year has 75, the progress towards perfection is 50%.
In that sense Mi Mix will get some 48% progress over the years average.
With the kind of data you are presenting it'll be better to present in a graphical curve

The real game changer was when Samsung entered the smartphone race with the Galaxy S1. Granted it was safe rather than revolutionary(SuperAMOLED apart) but it did make other OEM's up their game. Samsung gave us innovation and forced others to do so too if they wanted to stay relevant. The current gen of S8 duos are the culmination of this innovation with the best StB ratio out there.

Anonymous, 04 Jun 2017but android still isn't as good as should be in terms of performance anything less than 3gb ra... moreNah, Android can run fine on 2 gigs of RAM, even 1 and a half gigs of RAM, only when you get down to 1 gig of RAM does Android start to lag. Good thing manufactures are moving away from 1 gig nowadays.

As far i know most bezels are ok... When you get the phone.. But after a case, especially something like otterbox can exponentially increase the bezels and can make something like an iPhone look unsightly.. Safe... But unsightly..
