Surficial, 08 Jun 2017Ram caching will always help performance, but why do you want all your apps to be loaded at on... moreThe opposite is true. It decreases CPU load as recalling from memory requires less CPU than loading from storage to memory.

So it's better for battery, better for speed. With Android O Google would limit a lot of the background processes that run wild so they would limit battery leaks from background apps too.

Ram is always on, so actually using for so etning instead of junk data is important for both speed and battery.

Ram caching is the future. We'd only have nand for permanent storage, but once a phone is booted everything would end up running from ram. Imagine how fast those phones would be ... Oh wait you don't have to imagine, OnePlus is giving you a first taste.

Something that big names are denying from you by using dinky ram...

It's funny times when it is no name knock off makers that are breaking ground, all the while big names feed us gimmicks (tall screen on such a tiny device? Really? Just how many are watching movies in those devices).

On a PC it makes sense, but on a phone surely that just increases cpu load and drains the battery?

Why the heck are you guys comparing iphones to OP Phones. Even OP3 is better than what iphones have to offer for half the price!. I don't even bother about Apple products. I love my OP3, but it will be a shame to see an iphone design on OP5...because i hate anything that even looks like Apple Products

AnonD-234645, 08 Jun 2017Well said Mate! I am an android user and I COMPLETELY agree with you! He is uninformed. I posted a big post that is pending ... Read that when gsmatrena approves it. I'm a software engineer, he doesn't know what he talks about.

Anonymous, 08 Jun 2017...... Android need FASTER RAM. NOT MORE RAM. Thats why iPhone is faster at it. And thats why ... moreAnother Windows user that should be educated.

Yes, there is a limit which RAM can go and no further. That's around the amount of your used storage. We're veeeery far away from that. Most android devices are ram limited. They realod apps all the time. You're in denial!.

Here's a reading material for you: http://www.linuxatemyram.com/

Ram is used like storage. 8GB storage is *still* incredibly low, you wouldn't buy a phone with 8GB storage yet you think that 8GB of a RAM is a lot? Pffft , give me a break!

Ram speed is almost irrelevant. Even DDR 3 is like 90% faster than band with unbeleivalbe response time.

OnePlus 3T consistently beat phones with faster ram.

Ram amount is what matters, IO speed is second (first storage speed and *then* ram speed).

You're probably one of the same people that thought that more cores are not used by android. Then anandtech shut you up: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9518/the-mobile-cpu-corecount-debate/18

Stop supporting companies cutting corners! They're selling you sh** and you buy it.

This OnePlus phone would once again be the king of performance and you'd still be in denial. It would beat pixel phones despite them running the cleanest version of android... It doesn't matter, hardware wina always ... ALWAYS.

But here's a test showing OnePlus beating everyone else!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX4JucpvbJM

Very few buy a Sony, so proper tests don't exist. If they did, it would lose.

AnonD-294135, 08 Jun 2017two things wrong with your statment: iOS 11 Ipad pro 10.5 & 12.9 https://9to5mac.com/... moreNo you're wrong. That's sandbox experience, both are open like a single app.

Didn't say that they didn't find workarounds in particular apps. What I said is that they cannot multitask ... They only do with tricks, so non apple apps and generally apps that don't follow apple's exact guidelines can't work. No chatheads, no drawing over apps, no a million neat things that android can do since day 1

So finally they are back to their roots and have joined siblings OPPO & VIVO in replicating Iphone. BBK being parent company to One+, OPPO,VIVO.

So now we will have iphone replicas in 3 segments by BBK - lower, mid and premium.

...... Android need FASTER RAM. NOT MORE RAM. Thats why iPhone is faster at it. And thats why Android still confuse why lagging, and Apple is laughing at the slowness.

You can increase RAM, but to a limit its worthless gain. there is so much you can keep in the ram. You need to SPEED to move it thru the CPU and storage WHEN you NEED it.

STOP building lobe sided stuff Android! STOP IT! Build something that have gain. But i guess Android have poison most its fanboys brain.. its impossible to change.

I HATE the CORE WARS (Where the processor lacks transistors and bad thermal limit)
I HATE the MP camera WARS (Where the sensor is crap)
I HATE the RAM capacity WARS (Where the bandwidth lanes are STILL slow like snail)
I HATE the mAH battery capacity WARS (Where the device is not optimised to draw the current)

ALL ONE SIDED, but they NEVER see the other crap components involved. Then they brag, and comfort themselves Lagging is because of multitask..

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2017Of course Ram is the most important thing on android. It's only because these companies do not... morebigger RAM in android is quite useful and important but for IOS is different stories..you cannot simply compare 2 distinct system with same result both OS utilize RAM differently, yea IOS run more faster on single apps but quite bad on multitasking for android single apps run time a bit slower but it can stored many process in one time..

All these people fighting for more RAM.
They can't even show me a test that the 3T with 6GB RAM beats the XZ Premium with 4GB RAM.

The only Android that can beat an iPhone is the XZ Premium, whether you like it or not.

Sony's optimization has been the best for years, and I'm not expecting the OP5 to beat it either (maybe can tie up) but surprises always comes at the end.
