AnonD-34830, 13 Jun 2017Did you guys even read the article? Apple applied for the patent in Q2 2015 and Sony realease ... morealmost sure that the htc max and motorola atrix had fingerprint scanners in the power button before 2015.
A typical case of tech industry espionage. Sony patented it in Japan and some other countries a year earlier, 2014. probably....
An apple contactee from one of the patent offices informed them to file a patent rights for “the concept" in USA, as soon as possible.
Yeah, its classic industry steal.
Apple would already implement it in 2016 if it had any RnD on it at all, but it didint, it just filed in a stolen concept idea.
Sony probably wont pay for the rights of use in USA, just out of ethical principles.
So yeah, USA can forget about fingerprint enabled Xperias.
Let them have their Apple, its their company after all.
Sony most certainly doesnt shed tears over it.
Apple where is your innovation? Witless charging, revamped UI and functionality, the ease of sharing and transferring files? Apple during Steve jobs is great but not anymore.
MrElectrifyer, 13 Jun 2017There goes the great artist again, stealing people's ideas and shamelessly patenting it, greed... moreit's not , there are other phones with fingerprint scanner on power button .
Anonymous, 13 Jun 2017Read the article, Apple filed it in Q2, Z5 was released in Q4So you mean Apple got the patents in q2 the Sony copied, designed, and released the products in q4. Man, Sony must have some alien technology to do all that in 2 quarters. That's a serious achievement from Sony lol.
Someone better patent the "placement of micro USB port in the lower left side" before Apple do it first!!!
Based on your logic it is possible that Sony already patented it in 2014 or earlier then released it in q4 2015 while Apple recently just patented it in q2 2015 but no products yet. Why doesn't Apple go to others country and sue Sony? Because Sony already patented it everywhere except corrupted American offices.

And why the hell Apple is going to loose its market share because of a fingerprint scanner on the power button?!
xXENDER FREAKXx, 13 Jun 2017Wow APPLE finally thought of this when 2015 Z5 already got itRead the article, Apple filed it in Q2, Z5 was released in Q4
Isn't Motorola Atrix have fingerprint reader on the power key? The Motorola Atrix was released wayyy back in 2011 and it nobody bats an eyes.
Apple pathetic. The one thing I like about Samsung is that it's killing apple profits slowly
remember the Motorola Atrix -_-
released in Q1 2011
AnonD-34830, 13 Jun 2017Did you guys even read the article? Apple applied for the patent in Q2 2015 and Sony realease ... morea phone can take about 24-18 months to be developed and released, so sony had pretty much finalized the design, and features, and submitted the device for certification, by the time apple put in the patent application, so really apple should NOT have been granted this patent.
AnonD-676927, 13 Jun 2017This should not be a parent. It is not some revolutionary breakthrough. It is a fingerprint re... moreI felt the same, some of these patent are so crazy! Now tomorrow someone feels the need to integrate power button to scanner due to space constraint they are not allowed to do so because of a stupid patent, apple is such a shameless company!!
Anonymous, 13 Jun 2017This is patent Motorola 2011Nah, it's patent of Zuse who invented Computer with Z3. Every other technical gatget is Zuse Z3 ripoff.
lol Apple, 13 Jun 2017LOL LOL LOL Apple - what an advenced technology patent - SONY has it since years alreadyRead the article, Apple filed it in Q2, Z5 was released in Q4
AnonD-34830, 13 Jun 2017Did you guys even read the article? Apple applied for the patent in Q2 2015 and Sony realease ... moreThey released in Q4 but they probably already announced at least half a year before that according to track record of how Sony announced vs. actual released. Also, they probably have a running prototype at least few months before the announcement.
And here, everything comes together. Still a sad situation for Sony. (For trolls: before you say Sony had it for years, read the article)
