There goes the great artist again, stealing people's ideas and shamelessly patenting it, greedy hypocrites...wonder if this their patent is the reason why Sony couldn't activate its Xperia fingerprint scanner in the US.

Did you guys even read the article? Apple applied for the patent in Q2 2015 and Sony realease a phone in Q4 2015. Just because its taken 2 years to be granted doesnt make apple the bad ones. I agree its a stupid patent and that the patent office are useless for taking so long to grant it but really its Sonys own fault for not checking before releasing a phone with it as a feature.

Apple always copy Sony's simplicity design. You can go back and compare their products in the 80's. All Sony's electronic line products look very sleek, simple, and beautiful while Apple products are bulky and ugly (typical American design).

The US Patent Office doesn't care about prior art, or in many cases other criteria such as obviousness. They seem to take the attitude of award anything that comes in front of them and let the courts sort it out (in other words, let money talk).

vrvly, 13 Jun 2017Sony's way is actually the best - its quite natural and you got access if phone face up or dow... moreI've heard that either HP have the patent for power button scanners in the US or a carrier agreement with sony to sell xperias with a scanner which fell through meaning sony couldn't sell devices with it enabled.
Not sure which.

this patent is shit... why apple wanna make it seem that every new innovation that related to smartphone was done by them first.....they soon lose their mobile market share to android that shit so which mean that no android smartphone can have that technology with the finger print scanner in the screen or power button when clearly sony had it first sad
