j3rwin, 20 Jun 2017Finally someone with some common senseReally? Then they don't need to enter it at all. Razers products aren't made for Farmville players and they are still doing fine. Do people buy 600$ Samsung to play Farmville? Problem with Ouya was that for 100$ you got pretty impaired console when for 2 or 3 hundreds more you could have had the real deal. If they manage to give you the same feel of playing a console while you are playing on mobile, they will revolutionize it.
RealTC, 21 Jun 2017Why do I think they'll screw up a brand that was actually making good products?because you assume. I have every faith in Razer making a success of this
Why do I think they'll screw up a brand that was actually making good products?
This is definitely a good news, and not just for a few or the company, but for all the tech (mobile, gaming, etc) enthusiasts in general. And because mobile gaming is definitely going to be a huge part in smartphone near future (& even almost already now), but gradually it will increase even much more than now. So absolutely well said, etc.
Anonymous, 20 Jun 2017"I'm not talking about the ones who play candy crush or farmvill". -- Those are the people you... moreRazer is a company that always targets the true gamers with all of its products. I believe that they will do the same if they release a phone.
There have been multiple occasions when their CEO said that his first target is to make the true gamers happy, that motto was what the company was built upon and it'll continue to follow it as long as he is the CEO.
And things like the blade laptops showed that even non gamers were buying laptops dedicated for gamers. So.....I won't really be surprised if even tho these phones will be made for true gamers, they will sell like hotcakes.
Add Chroma and you will earn more than all of the smartphone market together.
surface phone is going to be gaming one for sure. at least with support of win32 apps.
A gaming phone? Which games would you play on it? There's not a single game on the market right now, that even a Snapdragon 617 can't handle. Talk about useless...
Hope they can price it fairly...
Razr is well known to overcharge its products.
And what are their device going to look like? A Nextbit with the yet to be announced Nvidia Volta (or is it Xavier?) Tegra chip?
bring us the Gaming VR.
Huge potential... be the leader.
If NVIDIA have mobile graphics chip version of GTX 1080, Razer is gonna acquire that first lol
Let's see results, all companies say beautiful stories.
CM3, 20 Jun 2017If these guy actually manage to make smartphones dedicated to gaming, oneplus and samsung are ... more"I'm not talking about the ones who play candy crush or farmvill". -- Those are the people you need to target. Majority of the people are there.
You target hardcore gamers, your sales sure will be miserable. It will not even dent Samsung nor Oneplus sales. See what happen to K1 tablet.. Nvidia shield and so on.
If these guy actually manage to make smartphones dedicated to gaming, oneplus and samsung are going to loose a hell lot of customers. Even apple might loose some. Most gamers prefer those three brands because of their consistent performance when it comes to gaming.
Before any of you say something like "mobile gamers, lol". I'm not talking about the ones who play candy crush or farmvill.
I'm talking about the ones who will game in any electronic device capable of doing so.
Let me think... they're gonna build a Xperia Play phone with a proper gamepad.
Would only work if they engineered the crap out of it.
That means high performance AND long battery life AND a comfortable design... in a package that shouldn't be much bulkier than a typical phone.
Or they will make it so that you can stream from your Razer Core, to your Modem, to the Internet, to your 4G provider, stream to your phone. Yeah, nah, it won't work... too much latency and its half-assed at best. It still is better to have separate dedicated devices instead.
Unless they were thinking of the GPD XD and the GPD Win.... well we have them already.
And there's the Nintendo Switch as well.
