"The change will take place without any notification on the device, because of some unnamed 'technical restrictions' in the Android Market app," yeah right!

My phone originally had 2.2.1 and now has 2.3.6.
I only use my phone for calls and messages,I have no app installed,I have only updated a few of the system apps(gmail, google search{a really old version},voice search & street view{the last 2 I don't use them but they are just a few KB}) that I use but the phone storage is filled up just cause of the play store and play services which I cannot uninstall for some reason. :/
*there isn't any space to update the YouTube and maps app.
Play store is the most retarded name for a app store. Who even came up with such an idiotic name?
Eske Rahn, 20 Jun 2017They should rename the current version back to "Android market" The current name is an INSULT... moreYou're reading too much into it. If the world play insults you have more issues to worry about than just the name of an app store

Of course many of them won't be supported by many apps today
I hope devices on Android 2.2 which revert to Android Market after undergoing a factory-reset, will still be able to upgrade to Play Store in the future.

Time to buy new phone. Android 2.1? Lol. At least it should be android 6.0.1 marshmallow.

Bebe Rexha, 20 Jun 2017Apple didn't kill the App Store on the iPhone 4. Android, what?Do you know?...that Apple previous discontinued update ios 10 on iphone 4, because it is too old and not support, this also same like android 2.1.
My first love on a brick-like smartphone is dying...
Bebe Rexha, 20 Jun 2017Apple didn't kill the App Store on the iPhone 4. Android, what?Android 2.1 is the old version, apps store still using android market, not the current play store, whatsapp also previously confirmed not support on android 2.1, is reasonable for google why discontinued android market.
Bebe Rexha, 20 Jun 2017Apple didn't kill the App Store on the iPhone 4. Android, what? How ignorant can you be? Apple updated iphone 4 to ios7+ so the store will work. But other Android phone manufacturers didn't update their phone from Android 2.1 so Android market is the base.
ithehappy, 20 Jun 2017Can't they just side load the APKs? I don't remember at all, too long ago! If some phone still... moreSide loading doesn't work for most of the apps. Nowadays Android ICS is the required version for sideloading

Kil all the old android version so we can force all manufacturer to use the latest android version only. Easy. No one will complain that manufacturer still using Marshmallow in 2017 this way.
