Base sensor resolution is 20 mpx
Optical ×1.6 × 1.25 (digital/cropping) = 2x zoom
Still , 20 ÷ (1.25^2)= 12.8
Wich is closer to ip7 plus 12 mpx than it is to the advertised 20 mpx or the 16 mpx oppo r11 (wich uses the same dual isp) is claiming

The 1.6x is likely not true. According to https://tweakers.net/nieuws/126119/oneplus-5-smartphone-komt-volgende-week-uit-voor-499-euro.html Oneplus told them that these are 27mm and 36mm camers, therefore 1.33x optical zoom. The 1.6x is likely related to a 16 megapixel crop from the 20 megapixel sensor, but that's digital zoom, too. And even if you don't consider the crop as digital zoom, it would be only 1.5x optical zoom.

To answer for those who wanna find something better for 500$ tag. Let's look at ZTE Nubia z17, Honor 9 and Xiaomi mi 6. For example. And in these cases hardware at least comparable. In some cases - much better. For less price. Nubia has borderless screen, sd card and waterproof. Mi6 and honor - glass back (doubtful, but it's more expensive), mi 6 and nubia support more common quick charge. So tell me, what the reason to buy this overpriced ceated brick with copycat design?

Cam is 2014 flagship level.

Benchmarks are just there to paint the area where the product should fit, not the exact spot. A phone with Snapdragon 835 is a flagship, whatever it may be, Samsung S8, HTC U11, Sony XZ Premium or Oneplus 5.

if we were able to use the 20MP camera independently of the other and without digital zoom, like raw footage, I would definitely consider buying OP5! Having 2 rear cameras to not only do effects, as bukeh, but with the chance of using both on their original image would be very nice..

lol. they should have mentioned this to all reviewers before anyone discovers this.
many people wondered why the longer camera has the 20MP sensor and not the main camera.
in a photography site, I found serious digital artifacts in all bright scenes which could have been coming from combining a combining of photos to improve dynamic range.

It a great phone even with that. We should't forget that this phone costs 500$, not 700-1000$ like the rest of the flagship phones from the rest of the big companies.
