Whenever Europe runs out of money, they can always depend on "donations" from large corporations to fund them
That's how it has been all these while.
No money? Sue somebody. Waste/Throw those money down the drain. Rinse and repeat.
wow..sue google that amount and thats like small change to them..google would be like "do you have any millions to break the third billion..sorry only got billions"
Anonymous, 27 Jun 2017Could someone explain to me what Google did? I mean a technical explanation.Nothing technical. Just the EU being anti US companies again. You don't have to use Google search if you don't want to..
If we do not have a pre-installed search engine nor a pre-installed app store? What are we going to use to even download the search engine or app store we want to use?>
Well, generally speaking, I like Google, and I quite trust them as well, etc. and so i rarely have something to say against. But regarding this one, I think that the court/ judge, etc. Is right about this, and I quote "Google must change its algorithm and must treat rival shopping services the same way it treats its own."
AnonD-680373, 27 Jun 2017Tell the European Commission to go f*ck themselves... If you don't like our service and how it... moreGoogle earns a lot of money from advertisements and so on. Europe is a big market it would be much more painful for Google if EU citizens were to be forbidden to use their services.
If they want to do it in Europe they have to keep up certain standards and this means no biased and manipulated search results.
Anonymous, 27 Jun 2017Could someone explain to me what Google did? I mean a technical explanation. They manipulated the search results to exclude/lower the competing products and services. This particular claim afaik was about price comparison services, but they also did that e.g. manually removing ProtonMail from search results for months.
Don't be evil Google....
Xdadevet, 27 Jun 2017Basically, Google gave search results of their products first. Like searching for e-mail would... moreWe do use Google for free, but European companies and advertisers give their money to Google just like everywhere else.
Anonymous, 27 Jun 2017Could someone explain to me what Google did? I mean a technical explanation.Basically, Google gave search results of their products first. Like searching for e-mail would being up Gmail first, then Yahoo and what not. They gave biased results to promote their own products. I'm personally okay with this, as we are using their search engine practically for free, which took billions to develop.
AnonD-680373, 27 Jun 2017Tell the European Commission to go f*ck themselves... If you don't like our service and how it... moreIt's like saying "Yeah, if you don't like how VW faked their emission tests, just don't buy them". No, it is not like that. Google offers a comparison tool and it does not compare properly leading people to buy the stuff from Google Ads customers. Is that fair to tell everyone it is the cheapest price, then ? They can advertise as much as they want but they should not sell it as a comparison tool because it simply isn't. Easy as that. If Google does not like it, they can just shut down their services in the EU, how about that ?
But you won't understand that anyway. You're probably some patriotic american that would complain if a european company did that.
AnonD-680373, 27 Jun 2017Tell the European Commission to go f*ck themselves... If you don't like our service and how it... moreDo you have the same opinion about Microsoft and Apple? Just wondering...
AnonD-680373, 27 Jun 2017Tell the European Commission to go f*ck themselves... If you don't like our service and how it... moreIf you want to earn European money, respect European laws. Simple as that. European companies and advertisers pay to Google too, we don't get Google services for "free". If I want to sell something in the USA, the product has to respect American laws. Threats don't work, what would the shareholders say if you lost such a big market? As for the insult, nice example of RT propaganda there, we're laughing at you over here. ;-)
European descent. , 27 Jun 2017Europe. Has no computer companies. What are they doing.. No computer companies? What times are you living in? 80's? That's beside the point.
EU is a mess, but on this IT consumer protection I am with them. Google & other giants become monopolies, they set their own laws and no one does anything about it. This is a field where EU comes in handy, they nitpick on every step making those giants more cautious & make them pay if the mistake is spotted. 2 billion is nothing compared to what Google earned in Europe.
If they want our money, they need to respect us (to some extent). Please explain to me one thing. Why people like you support/protect those monopolies?
Tell the European Commission to go f*ck themselves... If you don't like our service and how it promotes our paying customers, don't f*cking use it... Quite simple really... Services aren't free at the end of the day and almost every mainstream website in the world uses biased advertising; companies that use your browsing data to promote products and services you probably don't want or need. It's the nature of the beast and if the European commission doesn't like it they shouldn't use the Internet or create their own Internet for member states... F*cking idiots! Tell you what Google, threaten to give the European Commission an annual bill for products and services it offers to it's member state users (for free) and see what happens then... The EU at the end of the day is a failing wannabe Superpower with a multitude of member states who live below the poverty line... Don't worry about it and just drag it out through the courts until the member states get so p*ssed off with their money being thrown away on a futile act, that they withdraw support ;)
