Phones like the Galaxy S II look to be stupid-fast and their TouchWiz UI isn't too overbearing which adds to the speed, your also likely to get better pictures and videos from the Samsung and they score highest on average for battery life in Android devices.
The HTC Sensation is a similar phone in many respects, both (the S II & Sensation) are their latest flag ships and both are 1.2GHz dual-core, so they'll be fast.
Samsung build quality is OK but they like using a lot of shiny and chromed plastics, not very durable and they scratch easily, most HTCs on the other hand have brilliant build quality and go for more premium materials, think rubberized plastics and milled aluminum uni-body design; very strong and they look good. Battery life is a bit iffy, you'll be charging every day or 2 with general use and camera quality isn't yet up there with the big boys (a la Nokia). Also unlike the handsets in this article, the Sensation comes with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread out of the box and has HTC's latest Sense 3.0 UI, which I've had a play on and it's pretty cool. Ah crap! I checked for the update and it was ready to install (Android 2.3 and all) but I chose "cancel" because I didn't have much battery life left. But now when I search for the update again the phone says my phone software is up to date. But I never got the update! Any ideas of what to do? Might have to contact HTC's support unless things change.

I'm getting shot of my DHD as the battery is no good what is the point in having a phone if it is out of battery :/ but tbh other otherwise loved it.

desire hd is the biggest fail that i bought because the antena cover is so weak it broke within 6 weeks and at the other side the whole body is aliminium
