What ban ?! Now look, Apple is above any law. In the nineties it was more obsolete than obsolescence itself, but nowadays because of teenagers, social media, apps stores, and the complaisancy of the real pioneers of the internet-phone (Nokia), Apple is beyond all the damn laws even the laws of physics !

Basically, Qualcomm is absolutely right. And so to say the least, Apple must pay!

All the while it isn't even "Qualcomm" that invented any of its patents, but the genius minds that worked there who are not receiving any of the royalties. To add fuel to the fire, it's the end customer that pays the biggest price as they cover the costs of the royalties and then some to allow Apple to make profit off each sale.

If patents are gone there will be no new inventions. It is the only thing that inspire people to invent new things. How would you feel about someone stealing yours and makes money just because you don't have enough money to compete with huge companies. Then there won't be any new inventions.

Products would actually have to be good, not as they are now. Plus, they would be better exactly because everyone will be free to use anything.

I think we are at a point where patents hurt everyone and everything. Both customers and companies/economy.

This is really funny. Apple for wechat to pay apple tax, but apple refuse to pay patent to qualcom, and refuse pay tax to us government.

Apple deserves all the shit they get. They are always using their legal juggernaut to crush small companies. Remember that factory makes sapphire glass for them? That small company that can't afford to sue Apple for stealing their bookshelf interface for ibooks? Steve said "bring on your lawyers".

Good to see Qualcomm is giving Apple shit. KUDOS!!

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2017That would be epic and very well-deserved. But not gonna happen. Courts care about the money, ... moreAs much as i would like to agree with you, if you invented something and do not patent it, people can reverse engineer and copy it without investing in R&D which could cost 10s to 100s of millions. How would you like it if you spent that much then factor into your selling price then someone else sell it for 1/2 your price and yet still earn more profits. The patent practice probably need adjustments but not abolish.

Everyone who owns an iPhone should sue them for charging too much for their stuff. This is ridiculous, not like there was no competitors Apple can go to.
