The iPhone 6 is the oldest supported Apple device, but was sold originally with 16Gb, later phones are 32Gb.
All Apple did was to add Apple pay to the iPhone 5 give it a minor tweak in going from 4 inches to 4.7 inches.

They should have just dropped the 6 and lowered the 6s price.The cost to make a 6 vs 6s is negligible.

For an average user this may suit them as iPhone 5s may be too little and a iPhone 6 with 4.7" size maybe well suited without all the latest specs from iPhone 6s+ to 7.
