They can barely make cameras and they want to make smartphones? Get your head together RED and improve your cameras before trying anything else
Mobilemaster, 07 Jul 2017From that image, the phone looks kinda ugly to me.Red kit has always had a (More than) somewhat militaristic look about it, you either like it or think "well, that's just Red" and get over it.
Hmm hard to say this will work. Unless they create holographs if you buy an attachment. I've seen some of the research into holographs and they require some serious depth at this point. I don't see how you can cast light upwards and have it stop in the air at some exact point. That discovery alone would have been huge in the science community. I can see 3d being done as the tech already exists in research and has been demonstrated on tv's without requiring glasses.
Sounds good, Doesn't work.
if this thing will be like what i am thinking of a holographic tech, then im gonna buy one
AnonD-682271, 07 Jul 2017Yeah, HTC Evo 3D had that 6 years ago...That's stereoscopic, meaning a 2D image for each eye.
This is supposed to be true 3d, not a 3ds style extra layer of depth.
Anonymous, 07 Jul 2017No phones worth more than $600.Make a device that projects hologram for less than what they charged. If you can, people will surely buy it. And if you can't, we'll all understand how much of an uneducated loser you are.
Hmm, HTC Evo 3D had a 3D display a long time ago. Hope this'll be different.
Now smartphone camera competition is over this thing is going to triumph everything
I found this pdf on their webpage. You can pre-order it if you want but the launch date is set for Q1 of 2018.

Yeah, HTC Evo 3D had that 6 years ago...
....And pre-ordered....
Always wanted a Red Cinema Camera....but couldn't afford / justify it.
Now, maybe...
Imagine holographic display was the only display.
We would never worry about besels.
We could have variable size screen , based on our needs.
Anonymous, 07 Jul 2017A few years ago I would have said something like: "Who the hells pays 1200$ for a phone" But n... moreNo phones worth more than $600.
Apart from the prices, and because if so there'll be so much to say. But with that being said, just regarding the news that Red has announced its plans to enter the smartphone market, at least it's a good news (more competition more better).
Fayth, 07 Jul 2017"The image also confirms a headphone jack" ... apparently it's a feature must mentioned nowadays :)Thank Apple for that...
