The Moto X4 can fill up the shoes of the Z2. It's annoying having 2 flagships from the same company each year. Let the Moto Z2 Force be the one and only Z series flagship. X4 could be the flagship grade product with a lower price. And Z2 play be the flagship build product without the flagship internals.

The plug is 3.5mm across. The hole needs to be bigger than that (a minimum of 4mm, let's say). And it needs to have some area around it, say at least an mm on each side. Which makes it 6mm minimum.
To put things into perspective, the Moto Z from last year was 5.2mm thick.
