Not gonna buy it, still waiting for some good alternative for S8+ :'(

Definitely if the next iphone is made available for 500$-600$ (obviously a dream) in India it will sell more than these any other phones.. Apple has the brand name.. I've seen people buying iPhone 6 now more than iphone 7, though iPhone 8 is on the way, 6 is available for around 26000INR (around 350-425$). Hope you got an idea of Indian Smartphone Market.
Don't know for how long they will use these 600$+, 1000$+ phones. Both hardware and software is evolving much faster. If iPhone 6 to get next 2major iOS release, without jail breaking, definitely I'll buy the one.

If the next iPhone is sold for say 250$, you think it's numbers will increase?

You are stuck with plans by companies for your term. You will have no freedom. In India unlock option is far better and remains much more personal. No cost EMI is a great option by Bajaj. Or sometimes interest is credited back to you through offers on credit card. I will agree android phone manufacturers gives huge discounts on USA and European markets and provide much better exchange value in case you want to upgrade. Sometimes they give you 200$ flat discount for an exchange of any working phone. You will never found such discounts in India.
