For its size and form factor its the most balanced laptop for work. Good battery life vs Good performance. iMacs are full desktop class CPU, and the GPU they provide are not bad also.
Now that they bring support for eGPU for T3. The occasional fast gaming is possible on the laptops.
Its worth the money spent, if you wish to be a programmer, system admin, its a must have, not only you have access to all IDEs, you also have build in terminal access, good remote desktop options and tons of good apps.
Yes if your job scope is not those, or you are just a gamer, you will find it very very hard to justify buying Mac. But then again why would you pour your money into a GTX Titan for that min increase in performance also does not make sense for me.. And the gain from CPU is soo low over the years, even a intel i5 2400 still is viable in 2017.. so no use for upgrade either.

I hate how they hide the control panel and remove impor... moreI agree with you when you said we would love to move to Apple since they offer a better OS but I will also not buy an Apple becuase they cannot make a decent hardware. And if they do the price is so high that you would not want to purchase it. mac actaully has adavantage since mac machines offer Boot Camp which allows you to instal a Windows OS on a mac machine but.. it is so underpowered for its price that a logical person would not buy a Mac... So at this time I will still buy Windows.. I am sure whatever issues Windows 10 may have at this time it will be fixed.. Lets face it Windows 7 did not start good as well but look it is an operating system everyone loves for Windows. Besides being a Main Gear Laptop owner I also have desktop . Which allows me to customise my hardware. You cannot use a Titan xp GPU with a mac machine becuase Mac refuses hardware customization. Which for me defeats the purpose of getting a desktop.. That is why even Windows is full of bugs for as long it serves my purpose of Business and Gaming I will still go for Windows

Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 better. Windows 10 is a crap. I reverted my upgrade to windows 10. As well as windows mobile 10 too laggy.

We need normal storage like in the past.

The way to fix that DPI issue is to right click the application's .exe and go to Compatibility and check "Override high DPI scaling behavior." Keep it by: Application.
That fixes it. I have done that for all apps.
It is indeed a weird problem and sad that Microsoft can't fix that or force developers to fix it.
Creator's update has introduced many bugs, one being that I can't align left my icon on my desktop anymore, where they have been for the past 15 years. If I put them in that first left column, upon refreshing the icons move to the right. It has been since the launch of Creator's update that this is happening on my laptop, my tablet, and my wife's laptop. I saw others complaining about it online.
I have other bugs, such as can't find some menu items and control panel items in cortana search, and some search results actually are found but when I click on them or press enter, they don't open. I have to manually go find the app and click on it to work (super pathetic). Same happens in my wife's laptop so it's not only in mine. Windows 10 is the buggiest junk we were ever given. Non-stop bugs, wake problems, etc.
Microsoft is... despicable.
Would love to move to Apple but they can't make a decent laptop. My 17 inch 2015 Alienware beats all of their 2017 laptops for a lower price. I also have way more ports than their joke of a new macbook pro.

Don't even try to upgrade it, give it to your kids or younger relatives to learn how to use computers with win32 programs.
Then buy a new PC with windows 10 and have the best out of it.

The high DPI scaling fix just can't come soon enough. It's so weird that even in 2017 some text looks fuzzy for some applications.
Also I hope they bring back font settings in Creator's update if they can't properly fix their scaling.

Windows developers are not good coders at all and will not fix all old weird bugs. They don't care them. Still there is no smb drives automount, you need to mount manually every time after reboot. Buggy mtp connection - try to create folder and then rename it. Explorer will hang. Sorting by date in folder with 16000 pics take 5-6 minutes, so they didn't fixed it - just set sorting by name by default. Etc etc etc. Bad company eith worst workers.

In Microsoft's defense most laptops even now hold 768p displays... Its been since surface pro days that people have been using full hd or similar displays..
