It is natural that the Android Market will overtake Apple's App Store because Android is more popular than iOS.
Myself, 06 May 2011what gives..? In terms of QUALITY of apps, Microsoft's MarketPlace is FAR ahead of the Android... moreThat's not quite true is it? In you mean percentage of the apps that could be deemed as 'quality' apps compared to Andoid then yes, Windows Phone probably has the highest. But that's like saying every car that Bugatti makes it faster than a Porsche.. they only make one model (albeit in different guises), so it's hardly a claim to fame. Windows Phone Marketplace is a vast empty waste land, and all those predicting that WP7 will be the second most popular OS after Andoid in a couple of years, don't make me laugh. Sad thing is they'll probably take Nokia down with them (difference is Microsoft can afford to cut their losses, Nokia's downward curve probably means they won't be so lucky).
Cod3rror, 06 May 2011"If you bought an iPhone, you are obviously too dumb to make your own decisions and we'll... moreWell, you don't have to know about the existance of XDA any more than knowing how to jailbreak the iPhone. If you want more from your phone, then it's good to know those, but it's not neccessary if you want it working out of the box. And I am talking about "out-of-the-box" experience here. Please tell me how XDA is related to widgets ot custom UIs? We are talking about usability of things found in the Android Market / App Store and I personally find the opinion that Android ones are either iApp clones, second-grade or useless quite stupid. There are a LOT of good quality, usefull and unique applications in the Android Market that will never be in the App Store for one reason alone - Apple doesn't want you to have them. Yes, they might degrade your user experience with the phone, but this is your choice to make, not Apple's. We are all adults here capable of making our own decisions and if Apple treats you like children, you should not feel flattered by that.
Bernie, 06 May 2011Quality (Apple) over Quantity (Android). That's what I always prefer..Android has good apps, some of them beter than ios apps no doubt there. The problem is the mount of crap apps that Android has
Quality (Apple) over Quantity (Android). That's what I always prefer..
Hey I just played Sacred Oddysey on my Android device (for free) that apple fanboys would pay for this game. Of course you might play as well unless your phone jailbroken =X
I am an android user and I have to admit. When it comes to gaming iphone wins hands down. Games on iphone have better graphics because they are optimized for just one phone. Android games are usually of lower quality because they have to be playable on many devices with different specs. Many androids have low resolution, ram, gpu power and lack MULTITOUCH (see x10). Now that most android phones come with high resolution, multitouch, more ram, dual cores and the fact that there are many new android tablets means that better quality games are on their way.
Btw, with phones like the galaxy SII it might be possible to do an iOS emulator and run all iphone games... oooook apple, i did not say that.. d-d-don't shoot me. aaaaah.
More apps doesn´t mean better apps.I have an Android phone myself and sometimes it´s frustrating seeing so many similar apps and so many crap apps on the market.Google should realy change theyr criteria for app uploading onto the market as well as i dunno maybe scan them for viruses or something.More security and beter upload criteria=better apps on the market(apps users would gladly pay for)=more quality=better service all arround
Good for them ! i have both Nexus S and iphone 3GS , jailbroken 3GS is Way better than android nexus S when it comes to apps ( i did a jailbreak to get 4 navigation programs on my IPhone which cost like $300 if i didn't do JB !)
I still love my new Nexus S , but i simply cant let go of apple iphone ! actually My lovely Nexus S is my last Android phone . am Gona wait for iphone 5 when its comes out late this year !
tkolev, 06 May 2011Yes, there are usefull applications on the Android Market, that don't (and woun't) exist on th... moreYou obviously completely missed my point.. =.=
hello... the simplest navigator for android is provided by google itself.... the app is called NAVIGATION.... Feel pity for you....
Cod3rror, 06 May 2011"If you bought an iPhone, you are obviously too dumb to make your own decisions and we'll... moreoh really ? then tell me which app or tweak requires you to read xda forum for hours ???
you basically don't care about customizing your iphone, just because you can't customize an iphone (without jailbreaking it).
Enjoy using (and holding) your iphone the way apple demands you to.
probably the person who predicts the world will end in 2012
wow so many free apps love it very useful tools.looking forward ,fast development. so versatile.Don't cry out loud lol. just don't be bother
Even if they take over they will never be able to win over apple appstore as we can see the quality the apps are providing on both platforms
The apps r great looking and working on ios and see android apps which r just dummies with poor quality working and graphics
So tell me which one is better by commenting!!!!!
eXiLeD aSsAsSiN, 06 May 2011microsoft are a long way behind and are going to struggle hugley to catch upwhat gives..? In terms of QUALITY of apps, Microsoft's MarketPlace is FAR ahead of the Android Market. And I suspect the gap will only get wider once this Nokia thing kicks off. Not expecting u te admit though...
Android market is largely unregulated. I have seen some apps and games that are identical to each other, differs only in version number that the seller seems to be pumping out (alpha 0.1, alpha 0.2...etc) So the number for Android market is really all a fluff. Sooner or later, Google has to clamp down on these dishonest sellers like Apple did 2 years ago, and Android number will start to decline rapidly.
Fongy, 06 May 2011Crikey guys... It's amazing what each camp's fanboys have to say... Speaking impartially (as... moreI agree, well said. I could see a market for higher level android products that installed a pre-working "theme" that did most of the customization work for one. I wish I wasn't forced to put up with itunes on my PC when I buy an iPhone.
AnonD-2663, 06 May 2011When was the last time an android fanboy actually paid for an app. I think revenue and downloa... moreLike yesterday. I paid for an Android app yesterday. So please, stop spouting nonsense.
well maybe we won't get to used every apps on the android market.. but apple and android are always being compare by "YOU" guys.. that's why the media such as gsm arena will always make the comparison in every aspect like this one for example..
anyway, the way i see it, apple fanboy always leaving hateful comment in other phone's article and leave a very one sided comment.. and android fans always had a reason to hate apple.. it was so amusing to me to see how people hate each other even though it is not their "war"..
