"iOS and its apps, aimed at a premium market and as such, charge a premium for their services with Android going for a more mass-market approach."
--> sounds like Apple fanboy tripe to me...
Fongy, 06 May 2011Crikey guys... It's amazing what each camp's fanboys have to say... Speaking impartially (as... morevery well said.... i am an Android user as well and have to agree with the functionality vs looks/quality arguments.... ^_^
AnonD-7466, 06 May 2011It doesnt matter android will overtake. Most of the apps are not very good. Just because they ... morei agree with u but ur example is kinda wrong.... there's Angry Birds in Market.... lolz!
well , google needs to improve the quality of the apps in the Android Market if they wanna take on Apple's app store
YEs , the Android Market have allot of apps , but 96% of them is useless crap
No , I don't have an iPhone (never had ,maybe never will)
I've an Android OSed phone , MileStone & I've IOSed gadget , Ipod touch
slimberry, 06 May 2011Come on~~ Microsoft~~~ join the game.microsoft are a long way behind and are going to struggle hugley to catch up
Android, young and growing. Apple old and maturing! They did not sleep like Symbian! Anyway
Ok, as an Android user I must say games (mind you: not apps, I think they are equal!) from the Android market aren't as good as the ones in the Appstore, fact.
What really annoys me is that iFans always bragged about the huge number of apps in their Appstore(regardless of how much crap there is) and now that the Android Market is taking over, the number of apps suddenly doesn't count anymore. WTF?!
Google must focus on Application Approval Proccess because many Android Apps cause stability issues or they are just terrible.
Then they should focus on quantity and aproaching of new developers.

Spot on bro!
\m/ Android rules xD
The success of a system doesn't just depend on the quantity of apps available, but also the quality. Apple has tighter regulations for apps and also has lesser redundant apps. Better, maybe, but only time will tell...But for now , Apple is raking in the profits and Android manufacturers are competing like crazy amongsnt themselves and squeezing themselves of margins...More free market like...
Does it matter? Who on this planet will ever use all the listed apps in app store or Android market?
Gimme a couple of relevant and high quality apps and I'll be satisfied.
Crikey guys...

Speaking impartially (as always)..
I think it's difficult to compare...
I own a Galaxy S, but I've had massive exposure to the iphone 4...
If I'm completely honest the quality of apps on iphone is definitely better than on android (i.e. games, shopping, etc.) BUT the functionality of android apps (widgets, emulators, etc.) is better than iphone...
Plus the fact the you can drag / drop movies, roms, music, etc. straight to the phone without using itunes...
It's swings and roundabouts...
And as a few people have said on here - it's what you want to do with your phone...
If you just want a phone that "works" out of the box (but it is limited in functionality, personalisation, and has a pretty boring interface) then you go for iphone...
If you want a phone that you can mould into your own image and have complete control over what your phone does, but are prepared to take the performance glitches, crashes, etc. that ultimately come with this (hopefully sorted with dual core phones) then you go for android...
The choice is yours!
AnonD-5791, 06 May 2011App store apps have more quality than Android Market apps? WOW.. this is funny..I bet 10 out 1... moreYou're wrong, I use Samsung Galaxy S, Dell Streak and HTC Wildfire and I can say that comparing the quality of IOS Apps is far better than Android. I take some example, just compare the most common apps, YM and Skype, then tell me which one is better. YM on Dell Streak and Samsung Galaxy S cannot use front cam out of the box, you're lucky enough to get it work using tweaks, modification, custom ROM etc. Skype on Android does not support video...And Games??? I guess this one is out of the question as Android is no match to IOS games, this is still an apps right?
Come on~~ Microsoft~~~ join the game.

Oh please, that is such non-sense! Not everyone wants to buy a 500+ euro phone and then spend hours tinkering with it, reading XDA on how to make some app or tweak work with their phone and then beg the manufacturers and carriers for an update. Some people want to actually use the phone to do things.
Enjoy putting together your half finished, lego phone.
Cod3rror, 06 May 2011Correct, Android is a secondary citizen to iOS and always gets it's scraps, if you compare ... moreR u sure with android hardware ui? LOL. What is the live 3d wallpaper and web plug in for flash support. Both ios and android written with the same Linux core. Just matter how well developer tweak to support them. Certainly some apps is better on each others and even both OS can share same Apps enjoying Play together. Not like wP7 and symbian.
AnonD-5791, 06 May 2011App store apps have more quality than Android Market apps? WOW.. this is funny..I bet 10 out 1... morethats right! they are talking as if they have personally tested out 680,000 android and iOS apps to finally arrive at the conclusion of 'who is superior'.... LOL.....
AnonD-5197, 06 May 20118 out of what? lol Don't tell me 8 out of 10 apps from App Store is useful LOOOOOOL I'd sa... moreYes, there are usefull applications on the Android Market, that don't (and woun't) exist on the Apple App Store. Widgets (news, weather, clocks, text messages, system information (might not be "usefull" for some, but they are to me), UIs (just have a look at SPB Mobile Shell) and everything else that counterdicts with the Apple policy "If you bought an iPhone, you are obviously too dumb to make your own decisions and we'll make them for you because we know what's best... for us".
