You're still going with this conspiracy theory nonsense? Google just added a Bixby key too and it's not remappable either for the same reason. It's a custom interface that works systemwide. No one is trying to thwart remapping. When you create a work around for a custom interface and the interface is updated it breaks the work around. That's all that's happening.
I'm surprised you people aren't sued for this click bait nonsense.

I tried 2 top apps and uninstalled them. One couldnt launch the camera. The other would launch it but nog take pictures. So no thanks

I have never used bixby but i hate it because Samsung is trying to force me to use a feature that i never asked for or will never be useful as per the far leap Google & others are already at. The removal of this feature will free up RAM&ROM. The more Samsung forces this feature on it's present and potential costumes, the more push back and resentment Samsung will get for this feature. Samsung already makes the best phones! why screw up a good thing? I really hope that the NOTE 8 does not have bixby....PLEASE!!!! Samsung

probably the engineers let people do it but the egoistic manager or whoever came up with the Bixby and the purchase didn't wanna get fired or lose favour with the big boss so he kept making them disable it :P

I can see why Samsung is trying hard to let people use Bixby. Bixby is still in infant phase so they want feedback very badly.
But for the people who think Bixby is redundant as there is a Google's voice assistant, you definitely don't know what Bixby can do. It's very different from Google's voice and an amazing concept. I can see Google copying its features in the future and making Bixby obsolete. It's what Google has always done, copying other OEMs great features and baking into their new OS. They are probably the best when it comes to software optimization and i don't hate them for doing these things because its providing better experience to users.
My only gripe would be that people don't give credit to the OEMs, instead they hate it saying bloat and useless feature until Google announce that they are incorporating the same feature in the next OS version and then suddenly it becomes a very useful one. People are very hypocritical.

Omitting the IR blaster, S Voice( actually almost every single app they made that google already has an app for. And they don't even have more functions to make up for the unnecessary clutter), the stupid fingerprint scanner position that could easily be avoided by delaying the device a bit, repeatedly giving crappy earbuds in the box (this time rather expensive ones), etc.
