Lol Apple copyright Sony's idea to make the power button a fingerprint sensor when Sony already released it on the XPERIA Z5. Well if Sony enabled the fingerprint sensor function in the US I guess it will not be a disappointment. But I am glad my international XPERIA XZ got the fingerprint sensor enabled :)
AnonD-504722, 17 Jul 2017First they remove the headphone jack, now they remove the home button. Whats next? power button?Home button is throwback to the first iPhone. At the time it made perfect sense for the new UI "if you are lost, just press this button". Today, with consumers well versed with mobile touch UIs is no longer necessary.
Nzi97, 17 Jul 2017Sony used it 2 years ago, so the patent should be much oldernot in usa
Sony did it earlier. After this happened, iFans will say its innovation :v
AnonD-412467, 17 Jul 2017So it means all phones will have power button on the side. Starting by Samy...I always thought that power button has been on screen till now. What a wonderful idea...
Can Sony still legally use fingerprint scanner in power button?

AnonD-473325, 17 Jul 2017If the display has a cut out as above picture, it looks really ugly. for me it looks amazing.
Why not utilize the apple logo on the back to the fingerprint reader... Would that be such a bad idea?

I dont know why,but i feel that apple start to losing its magic, only their latest chipset wont be enough in this day competition, for me the last best iphone was iphone 5s and after that all start copying and all same hardware until this iphone 8 ,even the design getting lost ,apple was great when with steve job on that old day

Apple filled patent two years ago.Half of 2015...
Of course the phone project was ready and tests are already running.
There is a company in north europe who builts the sensor...
So Apple knew it was going to be used...
Patents work out of USA, so Sony is still using..

AnonD-1825, 17 Jul 2017"The Power button patent was filed in Q2 2015" Apple filled patent two years ago.well sony was the first one worldwide but this patent prevented them to sell the phone with a fingerprint sensor on the side power button in the u.s.a.
This is actually more convenient than placing it under the screen
Tom....., 17 Jul 2017Sony was the first to do it.
So why they file a patent?!
