ARM architecture 101
ARMv6 -> ARM11 (HTC Legend, iphone, iphone 3G, Nokia N8)
ARMv7 -> ARM Cortex-A8 (Galaxy S, Nokia N900, iphone 3GS, iphone 4, MILESTONE 2)
ARMv7 -> ARM Cortex-A9 (LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Galaxy S II)
ARMv7 -> Snapdragon (HTC Desire, Desire HD, Sensation)
Nothing new here, same old ugly Symbian...
I really feel left out because nokia is concentrating more only on s^3 devices. New updates with better user interface have been released and more is yet to come fr these devices.
But i think s60v5 users are the ones who will never enjoy this feature. Nokia should concentrate on these devices too, we expect good updates for these touch devices. Hoping nokia will really consider giving something special for s60v5 users.
AnonD-1825, 10 May 2011Are you kidding me? iOS heavy? iOS doesn't need multicore CPU etc. It runs perfectly with i... moreiPhone is not heavy... With it sissy multitasking ability, how come it's heavy.
If ever I get this phone it will be 4 the camera not 4 the updates.These things is what should have been done 1st time around instead of rushing the phone out to the market to compete.I will still get my Android phone.
LOL The Android fans never cease to crack me up. Check ANY Nokia related article, for one you'll instantly notice that there are ALWAYS more comments than ANY other news and Secondly you'll notice that Android fans flock to Nokia related news like bugs to a bug zapper. LOL
nice new and very much freshened look.Think that symbian anna is so cool then how cool will be symbian belle
jason24589, 10 May 2011Why the Symbian codenames are came from the name of the female?Could be worse they could be naming it after desert dishes.
I tried all of operations system on smartphones even linux one but all sucks. They NEED more efficient ui and applications. Im realy watch nothing but crap os on phones.
Croco, 10 May 2011Man, you know nothing about processors and system optimization. I suggest you handle a N900 wh... moreplease study what are your posting N900 uses arm V.7 type cpu not a weaker arm V.6 cpu of N8. dont make false statement.
not impressed. But its getting better ! go nokia.
Croco, 10 May 2011Man, you know nothing about processors and system optimization. I suggest you handle a N900 wh... moreAre you sure you are not the one who don't understand?
N900 uses newer faster processor model than N8/C7/E7/
i'v read ARM cortex 8 could be 50% faster than ARM11 what symbian3 phones uses.
N900 and iPhone 3gs uses same ARM 8, i don't understand why nokia didn't put that same ARM8 into N8/C7/E7/X7/ It's clearly faster because N900 runs browser much smoother than Symbian3 phones.
Symbian is dead! Or close to it! Nokia confirmed that with its Windows deal!
cool.. Waiting for the update.. When it available..?
Aaron, 10 May 2011Gigahertz and multicore CPUs are only required by bloated systems like Android, iOS and Window... moreAre you kidding me? iOS heavy? iOS doesn't need multicore CPU etc.
It runs perfectly with iPhone 3gs (600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor/256 MB RAM), PowerVR SGX535 GPU) it runs even browser perfectly smooth too, when we see smooth browsing in nokia symbian Phone?
Still iPhone 4 do everything faster than 3gs, it runs games better, newer heavier games, games looks much better, editing videos faster, editing pics faster etc.
It's stupid to say symbian doesn't need speedier parts. What about need for speed loading time 25 second vs iPhone 4 6 second, same on every heavy games loading times are MUCH longer.
If nokia can run symbian3 nicely, it just half of story, the problem is when you try to run heavier stuff.
Still i think the biggest problem is no SMOOTH browser on Nokia symbian phone. New opera is annoying laggy when zooming.
Good looking home screen by the way, now nokia need to do this same style of graphics all over the symbian and it's going to look fresh.
AnonD-291, 10 May 2011That video shows nothing. Thats just a 2D game that runs fine just because of low resolution o... moreyeah nokia put a gpu enough to handle its resolution why cant iphone do it??
vasra, 10 May 2011Doesn't look very different apart from the widget sizes. What the phones need is much more ... moreMan, you know nothing about processors and system optimization. I suggest you handle a N900 which runs incredible smooth in spite of its very old 680Mhz processor. Maybe you should read more about energy efficiency and see that Symbian + that crappy hardware is very efficient compared with its competition.
[deleted post]ios cannot multitask and most android run on 512 MB to 1 GB ram. So they wont see such crap.
bw u can see nokia n8 heavy multitasking which is running 31 apps at a time:
not bad for 256 Mb right?? :P
weks, 10 May 2011Why are they predicting 20% for WP in a few years then? That doesn't sound very dead to me.lol. you beleive in predictions?? Its all coz of nokia and its base around the world. Since they betrayed all of its symbian users and delaying devices, updates and going to a more crappy UI(wp)than symbian's its sure going to hell/.
