Anonymous, 20 Jul 2017No AMOLED means no chance.I tend to agree, however I am open to non amoled in this instance as Nokia will likely have the brightest nits and very high resolution, if what we have heard so far is correct. There being an individual and not following the pack. Timeless quality still standing true and coming up on the outside. Yay . . happy days.
I appreciate NOKIA for few things done in Nokia 8:
- Firstly not copying the design of IPHONE. Design looks better than any iphone replicas. Those who call it boring are maybe ones who wished for an iphonish looking android.
- compact size (not 5'5" +) with high end SoC.
- keeping OS nearly free from bloatware.
- not following the bezelless mania. Till date productivity of so called bezelless devices is not better than phones with acceptable bezels.
- IPS LCD screen is better in terms of life. AMOLED has its advantages, yet life of ips lcd is better.
Lets see how it goes in market.
Anonymous, 20 Jul 2017No AMOLED means no chance.no AMOLED means better for some users since AMOLED screens has heating issues (not all)

Wow This is even better than I imagined from the previous renders. It has the same side edge as the 5 which is absolutely beautiful (i was hoping it would) and not the Lumia back. awesomeness.
Dam this will be sexy .. I think I might be excited.
Solid build one of thee best of 2017 so far with the 6
Great size
OZO imaging technology
Carl Zeiss
Dual cameras Dual Sim
Ear Jack
Clear Back screen
High illumination
Colours choices are good
Possible laser focus with that extra hole on the back
Old Nokia employees mostly at the helm
I can hear that good old Nokia start up ring already.
It's been discussed here earlier that the phone is rumored to have an Always On kind of feature, and it would suggest the display is AMOLED. We'll know soon enough. I recently booted up my old Nokia E7 which had an Always On kind of app. E7 was using an AMOLED display but was also using Nokia's ClearBlack technology and the screen was and is just gorgeous. I totally wish HMD high end phones will have AMOLED displays.
BTW, unfortunately it seems ClearBlack is now owned by Microsoft.
We in the Phil. LOVE NOKIA so much. We want to grab one.
At 600 GBPs, this better be good, that's a lot of dosh.
AnonD-670928, 19 Jul 2017Too ugly boring design, No AMOLED display, no dedicated camera button. No Edge-to Edge display. FTW ETE screen is a no-go for a lot of brands today, AMOLED screens has heating issues, we all know Nokia is always build and quality first before design and trend
people like you hates Nokia for not following what other brands are doing but when they do you tell them that they are copycats? such a typical keyboard warrior
Tomorrow? Oh it will be even better then. So let's wait until tomorrow then, and eventually we'll see.
I was disapointed by price of the other android nokia phones nokia 3 nokia 5 and nokia 6 but this could be interesting if price is good like xiaomi. i hope nokia gets in the flagship battle!!!
AnonD-670928, 19 Jul 2017Too ugly boring design, No AMOLED display, no dedicated camera button. No Edge-to Edge display. FTW We don't need edge to edge display. Having some bezels actually makes it much easier to hold and use. And the design isn't boring at all, it's like old Nokia with top build quality. And who needs a camera button in the age where most of us are snapping?
My ethics doesn't allow me to express myself freely here, but just guess how i am swearing now. As Saturn Germany states in its "Saturn Magazin":
"Trotz des Benchmark-Tests mit dem 6-GB-Modell soll das Nokia 8 in Europa offenbar nur in einer Variante mit 4 GB auf den Markt kommen. Auch das ist eine kleine Überraschung, denn zunächst sah es so aus, als hätten die Finnen von HMD genau diese Variante gestrichen."
That means: "despite of the Benchmark test with the 6 GB model, the Nokia 8 in Europe will apparently come to the market in the 4 GB version only. This is a little surprise too, because at first it looked like the Finns from HMD had cancelled exactly this version.
Good luck HMD.
AnonD-670928, 19 Jul 2017Too ugly boring design, No AMOLED display, no dedicated camera button. No Edge-to Edge display. FTW Cheak the price first .it will be a affordable flagship with a top notch camera and SD835 with stock Android!!
Depicting the hands of Indian.. but in Chinese site.. :-P
Too ugly boring design, No AMOLED display, no dedicated camera button. No Edge-to Edge display. FTW
