My tests for phones :
A-image quality =
1- details : all have excellent details in daylight but S8 has the highest details , OP5 = IP7+
have good details in lowlight , but S8 seems to be a bit oversharprened
2- colors : OP5 and S8 have very good colors but S8 tends to have better colors in some lowlight conditions while IP7+ has unaccurate colors in most conditions .
3- noise : IP7+ has the lowest noise and OP5 has many noise even in daylight and more noise in lowlight to keep good amounts of details .
4- dynamic range : there's slightly difference between phones but S8 has better dynamic range overall .
. results :
1- details : winner=S8 , runner up = OP5 , IP7+
2- colors : winner = S8 , OP5 runner up = IP7+
3- noise : winner = IP7+ runner up = S8 third = OP5
4- DR : winner = S8 runner up = OP5 third = IP7+

It's basically the same editing controls but you can make more of a creative difference to the photo while keeping it a higher quality. They are all easy to use, and there's even a simple to use Photoshop AND Lightroom app for ipad. The iPhone even has the ability to save RAW files. It's just as easy and simple to edit iPhone RAW files as it is to edit iPhone jpegs, you simply get higher quality photos and more control over how the photo is processed.
Anonymous, 20 Jul 2017iPhone have worst camera. Others are super. But you forgot to mention that iphone was released in september 2016 and samsung s8 in april 2017! Thats 7 months difference between those two and any phone maker could make better camera...we shall see in september this year, which phone will shoot better photos :)
Zenodroid, 20 Jul 2017Op5 worst camera phone on the market, unless you root it and flash huaweis camera app on it. O... moreit is normal for the OnePlus brand to not excel in camera shots, Oppo, LeEco and Vivo are already in the camera scene, these 4 brands is owned by 1 and OnePlus is built for overall performance unlike the other 3 which are concentrated on photos/videos
Op5 worst camera phone on the market, unless you root it and flash huaweis camera app on it. Or Samsungs camera app for that matter. There are free options on play store, but they can't do the magic anyway. Oneplus seems to be amateurs on programming camera app, but the rest of the phone is amazing.
Duel, 20 Jul 2017In my opinion RAW is too extreme and too much of hazzle, why would i use RAW when Apple softwa... moreApple is great in many things but IMO not in capturing photos or videos. I have used an iPad, iPod Touch 5th Gen, iPhones and all have low reso with too much pixel noise. I edit videos and photos most of the time and I would prefer using an actual camera but in terms of phones, Samsung, Huawei (Leica), Nokia (Carl Zeiss) and Sony are better options, you also have Asus but not preferable for pricing.

I just took a few photos from the Richard Nixon Library here in Yorba Linda. My G5 took brilliant photos! I needed the wide-angle lens to take a photo of a huge wall and a helicopter outside, and both came out beautifully.
G5 and V20 are my go-to cameraphones. The Pixel and S7 edge are secondary.
Jaquet, 20 Jul 2017Also, you can always shoot RAW on the samsung galaxy S8 and edit it in Photoshop or lightroom... moreIn my opinion RAW is too extreme and too much of hazzle, why would i use RAW when Apple software already makes most of part and get me great results where i can tweak my photo to any direction.
I also own Canon Rebel DSLR, but haven't used it in many years, i found the passion for photography again with iPhone and can't wait to get iPhone 8 to get even better results, also with iOS i have awesome photo editing apps like newest affinity which is unbeliavable iPad app. No need for Photoshop anymore, pretty crazy.
lol, a camera from the S7. samsung isn't even trying. this is the reason dual camera is a poor feature just to get better telephoto pictures.
the only dual camera implementation which is done right is the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom which has f1.7 lens, OIS and large sensor on both cameras. unfortunately, it is still not available and might be outdated once we get our hands on it.

Since 8 actually has a better camera without post processung (brighter aperture, larger sensor) it makes more sense to get the s8 and shoot RAW in daylight so you can edit the photo without the phone software changing it at ALL. The s8's low-light NR and multi capture NR is so fantastic its better to shoot jpeg's in low light. You basically end up with tbe best of both worlds, clean and sharp low light photos and complete editing control over daylight photos.

Duel, 20 Jul 2017If you want to edit your photos iPhone camera is way to go, it makes most realistic looking ph... moreI am a fellow photographer, but I dont see the point in getting an expensive phone as the camera to always have on you. Before I realized how dumb it was, I decided on getting an HTC 10 last year simply bcause it had a large sensor and bright aperture. I shot RAW and edited the RAW files in Photoshop (when i say edit i mean color adjustment, sharpening, NR etc) and i got some pretty good results. If i had put some research into it i would have known that I could have gotten the sony RX100 III and a cheap but reliable smartphone instead. The sony RX100 III has a large sensor(one inch sensor), bright aperture(1.8-2.8), and decently long lens (24-70) all for a decent price. The large aperture and sensor allow you to have true bokeh effects AND they allow you to be able to shoot in low light, even astrophotography. Plus it shoots RAW and has a pop out electronic viewfinder. The best part? IT FITS IN YOUR POCKET. It is a more expensive approach than my $600 HTC 10, but it is definitely worth it. I more recently got a nikon d5500 which i love, but its bulky and I dont always have it on me. I really wish i had gone for the rx100 III+cheap smartphone approach AND gotten my d5500. Sorry that this turned into an add for the sony rx100 III.
If you want to edit your photos iPhone camera is way to go, it makes most realistic looking photos. As a photographer that's my choice. It's easiest to tweak later, something which already has lot of overprocessing is hard to edit.
Apple could easily make those photos pop out more in software side, but they prefer natural looking results.
Overall the quality from all these 3 camera is good, they might not good as HTC U11, but still produce well balance photos across all situation.. For me, S8 is slightly better than OP5 and IPhone 7 Plus.
Great camera review, i love how thorough all the tests are. I just have one thing to point out. Although the oneplus 5 and iphone 7 plus label their longer lenses "telephoto" they, are not actually telephoto lenses. A medium telephoto lens is 70-135mm, and a full telephoto lens is 135+. 35 - 70 is considered a Normal focal length lens, not a telephoto lens.
Funny. Oneplus 5 is less desired in here as the price would be pricy. The most hated feature of it because it is a copycat of iPhone 7.
More funny, why people would like to have this copy, failed and half bake phone that simply put more RAM and high end SoC to justify its overprice asking price for 2017?
Oneplus 3 and Oneplus 3T did better than this ridiculous Oneplus 5 in 2016.
