I just hope Nokia-HMD will also release at least one Windows phone with all these patents and technologies. I can't use a phone that sometimes runs and sometimes doesn't do so great - stutters, bad UI and UX, security threats, bugs, errors, force closing apps. (Android)

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2017How in the world that mobile patents add upto 500. I literally cant make out more than 15 dif... moreWell to guide you, any new innovation can be patented so that it can be protected & you get it's copyright.
Innovation can be in the form of anything, whether it is developing a new design, or developing a new software or developing a new website which you want to protect from others so that they might not be used by anyone else without licensing.
So they can have a use a no. of patents in a single device like the colors, design, size of screws used...(LoL) and Custom designed User Interface apps, speacial apps , special software.... anything....LoL
jraympres2, 28 Jul 2017Still Microsoft holds more important patents.yeah, they won't give pureview that easily, so i guess HMD will be looking to get it back after earning some profit.
Pureview is much needed.
Anonymous, 27 Jul 2017so hmd is not licensing nokias tech, they are trying to eat nokia, im sad for nokia, im not go... morebro, Nokia is HMD(in camouflage) they(Nokia) are playing a very big game right now, to be on the safe side while getting back to the Game of Mobiles.
We don't know what they have more in store for us. HMD is not just any company, it is the real Nokia and they are taking all the little steps to come back.
Anonymous, 28 Jul 2017How in the world that mobile patents add upto 500. I literally cant make out more than 15 dif... moreI've been wondering about this myself for quite a while now. What are the things covered by all the many patent licenses the companies own?
kodekn, 28 Jul 2017"On the other hand, the trademarks for PureView, ClearBlack, and PureMotion are still register... moreFrom what I've heard, that was the case. I don't know whether Nokia exclusively license the patents used by those trademarks to Microsoft or not though. If not, Nokia can do the same by licensing those patents to HMD and let HMD register their own trademark. The exclusivity flag is still the key which we don't know the value of that flag.
How in the world that mobile patents add upto 500. I literally cant make out more than 15 difference between any two phones (build+operation). Does the 500 include a patent for placement of camera on the backside of the phone?backside.
Just now meet with HMD Global head country.. he show me the so call Nokia 8.. Nokia 8 will the game changer in camera dept coz it came with 13mp x 3 sensor (RGB+Telephoto+Monochrome).. 3 camera at the back.. wooww..
I wish they came back with Pureview. Imagine a 1020 successor Android!
Lighting McQueen , 28 Jul 2017The true Nokia's are not symbian. It is actually the Series 40 that the Nokia 515, 301, ash 30... moreSo you're saying that the N95 is not a true Nokia??

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2017so hmd is not licensing nokias tech, they are trying to eat nokia, im sad for nokia, im not go... moreThe true Nokia's are not symbian. It is actually the Series 40 that the Nokia 515, 301, ash 300, ash210 and more phones that used to made the last standing.
kodekn, 28 Jul 2017"On the other hand, the trademarks for PureView, ClearBlack, and PureMotion are still register... moreNokia owns the patents PureView, ClearBlack and PureMotion that's why I am confused why they can't do what you just suggested, well, we don't know what they are really planning :3
"On the other hand, the trademarks for PureView, ClearBlack, and PureMotion are still registered to Microsoft."
Is it true that Nokia has always owned the technology and the patents of PureView, ClearBlack and PureMotion, and Microsoft only owned the trademarks? If this is the case Nokia could easily license the tech to HMD since Microsoft only owns the names. Sure it's possible Nokia licensed the tech to Microsoft exclusively.
