I just hope Nokia-HMD will also release at least one Windows phone with all these patents and technologies. I can't use a phone that sometimes runs and sometimes doesn't do so great - stutters, bad UI and UX, security threats, bugs, errors, force closing apps. (Android)

Nokia/HMD can use the PureView but not the name.
just like ClearBlack display was used in 3, 5 & 6 but named just as a Polarized display.

Innovation can be in the form of anything, whether it is developing a new design, or developing a new software or developing a new website which you want to protect from others so that they might not be used by anyone else without licensing.

So they can have a use a no. of patents in a single device like the colors, design, size of screws used...(LoL) and Custom designed User Interface apps, speacial apps , special software.... anything....LoL

I don't know whether Nokia exclusively license the patents used by those trademarks to Microsoft or not though. If not, Nokia can do the same by licensing those patents to HMD and let HMD register their own trademark. The exclusivity flag is still the key which we don't know the value of that flag.

How in the world that mobile patents add upto 500. I literally cant make out more than 15 difference between any two phones (build+operation). Does the 500 include a patent for placement of camera on the backside of the phone?backside.

"On the other hand, the trademarks for PureView, ClearBlack, and PureMotion are still registered to Microsoft."

Is it true that Nokia has always owned the technology and the patents of PureView, ClearBlack and PureMotion, and Microsoft only owned the trademarks? If this is the case Nokia could easily license the tech to HMD since Microsoft only owns the names. Sure it's possible Nokia licensed the tech to Microsoft exclusively.
